Well, I finally learned how to use Gross Beat, and this came out. As the original title (Is There Such a Thing as too Much Fun?) suggests, I had way too much fun messing with Gross Beat. But I dunno. What do you guys say? Was the part at 2:46 a bit overkill, or is it all right?

Also, darn you Newgrounds and your small character limit for titles :/

Edit: I just want to add that I only spent a good 13 hours on this, and I was tired as hell. I wasn't really trying to make something of production value, I just wanted to show you guys what I do when I'm bored and have FL open, and to get reviews. /edit

Edit 10/8/12: Remastered and took out a lot of the time glitching in the middle, leaving some in there to prevent it from being too repetitive. /edit

Ah yes... THIS chord progression.

Like the guy before me said, this is in DIRE need of some mastering work. Every time a new instrument comes in, I stop being able to hear all of the older ones. This is something you gradually become aware of. Try to make all those voices stand out.

As for the glitching that you did at 2:50 onwards... I usually don't glitch unless it serves some greater goal. For instance sometimes I will glitch a lead melody but keep the beat running normally in the background to suggest that the song is breaking down. Sometimes I will glitch as part of a build, just because it sounds awesome (lol). I like your glitching at the end, but the glitch at 2:50 seems like it was just done for fun rather than any song structure purpose.

But that's just me, so take it with a grain of salt.

Good stuff, keep it up!

The glitching was just me f'ing around and having fun lol, and trying to keep it from sounding repetitive as I had no inspiration for another melody and I had no clue where to go with it, so yeah. And I suck at mastering/EQ'ing normally, I'm still trying to improve. I am very, very much a noob when it comes to that kind of stuff. I just like making melodies and having fun with the song.

Also this song was made over the course of two days with a sleep deprived me, and me experimenting with Gross beat and the time glitching. I may actually do a version of this with no glitching at all, and see if I can figure out how to master correctly.

Thank you for the review though, and the tips on the time glitching.

Hey I posted in the Audio Advertisement thread about this song as well, but I figured I would give it a legit review to hopefully boost the publicity. As I said in the thread, the song desperately needs some equalization and volume adjustment; mainly with the synths. The drums get drowned out and the song loses its groove as a result. You also went crazy with the time glitching and it kind of muddied the flow of the song in general. In my opinion, Trance needs to flow nice and smooth, like a river. It's definitely got a good melody to it and has tons of potential. Just spend a few weeks on it and just polish it relentlessly and it'll no doubt turn out to be a great track.

Thanks for the review. This track really was just me messing around with the time glitching. Maybe I'll open it again and do a version with no time glitching, and if I can figure it out, with better mastering. I'm still a noob at this, as usually I don't get reviews, so I have no clue how to improve. So this helps. A lot.

Anyhoo, yeah. I spent maybe 13 hours on this? And I was very sleep deprived. And my girlfriend wanted to know why I told her I thought I was having too much fun in Fruity Loops XD

And the reason I put it in trance is because a lot of people say that my melodies are more trance than anything. So, that's like my "default" genre now. I may change this to techno if I feel like it. Or if you feel this should be in another genre, please tell me, like with a PM or something, as I absolutely suck at telling EDM genres apart.
