Just finished up recording this tune. It's sort of an afro cuban style song with acoustic guitar and mandolin. I pitched down my guitar an octave for the bass part. The percussion was drummed out on my guitar and other surfaces around my desk.

Everything was recorded by me and none of the tracks were sequenced with midi.

I'm a bit unsure what genre this would fall under tbh

I thought I was on the front page for a sec...because I have a song on Newgrounds with the exact same name O_o anyhow, this is way better than my piece.

seriously, it fuckin rocks. Nice latin 6/8 groove, the overall piece could use more variations for being 5 minutes long, but other than that this piece of music is fucking amazing. Tremolo plucked string riffs, jazzy chord progression, deep reverby ambient atmosphere (did you use timestretching?), exotic hand percussion, mixing is crisp and well placed. Reminds me a little of one of the more recent Paul Desmond Quartet albums. I like DustyPeach's review, to me the whole piece is quite airy, ghostly, yet very calming. As if I died but afterlife is paradise at a tropical island.

Extremely floaty and peaceful.

Something to float away with, most definitely. I understand why the word 'latin' comes to mind, but I fell some parts were extraneous to traditional Latin pieces; I would say (I know this is such an easy way out) alternative with Latin influences. The percussion was probably the highlight of the whole piece and impressive that is was purely guitar and desktop sounds. The feel you achieved was brilliant, it was fulfilling on all levels and the lack of changes (which is not always a bad thing) gave it a real nice rolling, progressive feel: As it got closer to the end, it got a bit more ghostly and airy. The breakdown at the end where it goes to just percussion before the abrupt, epic ending was my favourite part.

Well done, a very rich piece of work.

This is great!

Kepp up the cillin!

5/5 or 10/10. It was a very interesting song. I loved the feel of it. I'm not really sure what genre (and I'm aware Newgrounds needs to expand their genre categories a bit) I would put it in, though. It seemed more ambient with latin influences than true latin to me, but it works all the same. I think your "poor man's drums" pushed it over the edge. Well, that is what I'll call your unique approach to drumming. It worked wonders. Heck, I could have just listened to the percussion alone and been happy. But the rest if the song was pretty interesting as well. Good job.

Holy shit. You are amazing.
