This is my entry for round 1 of NGDAM! I'm glad this competition had me writing music. I may add a few more vocal parts later, but deadlines. teehee~

Edit: Wow, thanks for the frontpage exposure NG!

Edit 2: Updated mix! No more bass drum problems

From the doubt in our cortex
Rationale is attained;

Repose keeps us afraid
But fear is the chemical gluing our vigilance together

Reason lets us thrive
Use the spectrum in your eyes

From a callow soul comes courage
Naive courage

No God to guide me through this, my nerves quiver steadily, but that means I am free
Now, no longer hollow, but still, I'm just a formula

Oh, our hearts are led astray, but that's okay, for we are just chemicals
Our souls may stay as shallow ponds, but nothing's wrong; we are the universe

System of a: Drowned in the Sound of Music
-------------------------------------
------------------------------
It's been a while since I've been into Serj and his crew, and I'm sure by this point, I'd have to practically beat the dust of my old S.O.A.D. CDs if I wanted to listen in. However, I wouldn't mind doing that right now, after listening to this wonderful tune, which has perfectly reminded me of why I fell in love with the spirit in those tunes.

If you have no clue who System is, not only shame upon you, but also it is time to search for a coffee shop or Best Buy (But not Borders, since they don't exist anymore) and pick up an album. This song, which mirrors the spiritual tone and perplexity of such a band, shows how creative our human minds are. Intertwining between slow and trippy to faster and more lyrically driven, it winds in and out of practical dimensions to create sounds of a new higher order of thought.

The artist, I'm sure, thinks I have the concurrent influence of THC or lysergic acid-B about me at the moment, but I assure you, artist, and the rest of the readers here, that I genuinely feel that this song, as electronic a rock song it is, really shows deep meaning and wonderful sound that any inspired artist should follow up on.

VERDICT:
4.5/5 - More than worthy

+ "Chemicals" needs an entry in another NG media piece; it's fully deserving of such
+ Nice and long, unlike some unfortunately great-but-short songs on this site.
+ Deep lyrics and subdimensional sounds are almost trippy (In a good-er sense)
+ Shadows System of a Down, which was one of my favorite bands for a time.
+ As weird as the intro is, it does successfully blend electronic elements with fusion rock.

Wow this song is just something amazing!
All of it is spot on and fits together like a glove.
Even though it is all great i have to give a special note to the guitar guy being myself a guitar player, he is brilliant on this awsome piece.

Kor-Rune responds:

Thank you! I appreciate that you enjoy my playing, and the song!
