For the last several months, my grandma's health has rapidly depleted. Her liver failed earlier this week and it seems that she will not make it beyond a few days. I've been in her hospital room watching her slip away. Her face is gaunt and her body impossibly small. She moans incoherently with her eyes half open and her blackened hands trembling. It's hard seeing her this way. Seeing a woman once so strong willed and independent straining under the weight of her own body, bent and bruised, the brilliance escaping from her eyes.

Facing death brings me unceasing questions about my priorities and values. It's tough, watching life fade away. It's a feeling I've never quite known.

This piano improvisation represents the uncertainty that I'm feeling. I sat down at the keyboard, hit record, and let raw emotions guide my fingers.

It's unrefined, but I hope you enjoy the music. It is heartfelt if nothing else.

Improvisation at it's best. I can only pull off a great session when I'm home alone, thinking about dark shit like this.

love it.

Loosing a family member is never easy... When I was a freshman in high school I lost my grandfather, who was like a second father to me. This song brought back memories of the two of us doing the mail route for the school system, back then we would have long talks about all kinds of things. Our elders truly do bestow us with their wisdom in some shape or form, never forget what they taught you because it's the most important gift they can give you. Loosing family is never easy, so my respects are with you and your family. This song is true to your heart and emotions, this is something I respect. The song is a rather sad one, but exposes a strong will, someone who knows what to believe in... or should I say someone who is ready to face the truth. I don't know what to say exactly about the song because it's depressing yet soothing all at the same time... I'm rather lost for words at the moment, I'm sorry I can't give you a better review right now.
