Part 5 of 50 of my One Month of Country
For the month of June, I wrote 50 country demos in preparation for an upcoming album I'm going to record. This song is a love song, because hey, being in love is pretty awesome, but this song also gives me the opportunity to talk about songwriting.
A lot of the times, you write songs about things that don't exactly happen to you, but are tangential to you. I don't really have a girl who is madly in love with me, but I can imagine what it'd be like. There isn't a girl who is carving my name into pine trees or acting like a pre-teen girl about me, but I know what it's like to have a girl love you (allegedly).
Songwriting can often be an exercise in imagination, and sometimes those dreams are often better than the reality. I recommend it every once in a while.
