EDIT: I made a video out of the medley and posted it on YouTube. CHECK IT OUT!

This here is a project that I have worked so ridiculously hard on that it's not even funny. It's a whole medley of one of my favourite games ever; Monster Hunter Tri. I started this project on the 19th of May and 404 patterns, 48 instruments, 84 automation clips and 36 hours of work later, I managed to finish it, incorporating seven different prominent melodies of the game. Note that the harmonies and instrumentation are all original and I added a few new parts myself.

Few quick disclaimers - I know this is long but please have patience with it. It's not repetitive. I barely repeated any patterns and added as much variety as humanely possible. Also, due to the fact that this is a medley, some transitions are really bad. I promise I tried my hardest to make them smooth but the game's music is so diverse that it's hard to keep it flowing in a medley.

Now, as for instruments, we've got:

Strings - Violins, violas, cellos (tremolo, legato and staccato) and double basses all from East/West Symphonic Orchestra.
Woodwind - Zourna, flutes, ney flute, pan flute and didjeridoo from Ra. Clarinet and staccato flute from Symphonic Orchestra.
Brass - Trumpets, French horns and trombones all from Symphonic Orchestra.
Percussion - Jaw harp, Cuban percussion and gong from Ra. Djembe, big hits and cymbal rolls from Stormdrum 2. Tambourine, snare, timpani roll and cymbal hits from Symphonic Orchestra. Latin percussion from EZdrummer. Clap, snap, clave and wind chimes are random samples.
Misc - Glock, harp, piano and choir from Symphonic Orchestra. Mandolin from Ra. Guitars are from Virtual Guitarist.

Here's a list of all the stuff that's I remixed from Monster Hunter. I split it into three parts - first part is the intro to the whole thing, second part has to do with the village and the city themes, third part is dedicated to the Ceadeus, (the final boss of the offline game), and the last part is the finale.

Now, I need to point out that this would NOT have been possible without the Monster Hunter fans over at the Monster Hunter Wiki forum. They're the ones who supported me all the way through and gave me so much feedback and advice, especially the members Lou Urau, Luciarn and Slyffer. Check out the thread here: http://goo.gl/gKmrv

Camoshark, Echo, Buoy, Blackhole12 and Darrenkerwin also deserve a mention for hearing my track and giving me feedback as I go along. Thanks also to Zero Flare and IaintElmo (MH Wiki forum members), two people I've played with on Monster Hunter Tri a lot who have also given me feedback.

SO YEAH. That's it. I really do hope you enjoy this. I worked a lot on it, by far the most I've worked on anything. I had other music projects to do and exams as well, which made it tough to work on this, but I finally got it done. Please post some feedback, even if it's just which part your favourite part is or whether you like it or not. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks for listening.

This is the longest piece of audio I've seen to this point.

I remember getting Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii, it was actually a bit of a replacement. You see, a couple days ago before getting Tri, Super Smash Bros. Brawl suddenly stopped working on my Wii, it crushed me hard. I played so many hours on Smash just losing the chance to play it again just hurt inside. I was originally saving up money for a new DS system considering my DS Lite had a broken hinge. Anyways during this time a friend of mine introduced me to an upcoming Action-RPG coming for the Wii, it sounded interesting and after a long debate, I decided to get Monster Hunter Tri. Little did I know at the time I would of be sucked in to the world of Monster Hunter. There was just something about the game that just had me keep coming back, the thrill of hunting everything around me, the slaying of large dragon-like creatures, the moment you first face the Jhen Mohran event because you were still a low level at the time but was still an awesome experience. Monster Hunter Tri filled up a lot from losing Smash. No matter what I always eventually came back just to hunt even more. Even when I got the Wii U, I still inserted Monster Hunter Tri. Of coarse now it's either 3 Ultimate or 4 Ultimate, but can't help being a proud hunter from Loc Lac. Listening to this reminds me of those days. Even if people didn't like the whole Swimming feature, or had a lack of Sub-species and no Dual Blades or Gunlance, it was and still is one of my favorite Wii games. I'm glad to of listened to this song, sometimes listening to familiar sounds can help one's problems. Lately I've been having nothing but problems but that's not important. All I can say is thank you for this medley, even if I am under 3 years late, thank you for having me remember all the good times I once had in Monster Hunter Tri.

Step responds:

Geez, man, this review hit me right in the feels. I need to also thank you for reminding me of all of MY great experiences with Tri. Honestly, I just got the game out of the pure chance of seeing it in a game store, but never would I have guessed what an experience it would end up being for me.

I've logged around 1.5k hours into Tri and MH3U alone. Three of my closest friends are people I've met through that game. I know the game inside out; item combinations, good armour sets, max DPS combos for each weapon, hitboxes, elemental resistances... I'm nowhere near of an MH expert as I used to be back then but I still pop on MH3U now and then haha. I'm kinda rusty now but it's surprising how much of Tri I still remember.

I also miss Loc Lac too! The only other MH game I've played is MH3U and while Port Tanzia is nice, I miss the homey and cosy Loc Lac tavern. By comparison, Port Tanzia is just an explosion of colours :(.

I'm rambling. Thank you very much for the heart-warming review. Really glad this medley evoked some nostalgia in you, and thanks for returning the favour to me!

April 30th ;-; never forget... Anywho, good work :D

Step responds:

Yeah, on April 30th, DISASTER HAPPENED.

Oh well. I have Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate now and I'm loving it, at least. Thanks for reviewing!

soo sexy!

Step responds:

So very very sexy.

this was the most awesome remake i´ve ever hear of monster hunter, i think it gets "slow" in the "Ceadeus" part, but anyway, its by far the greatest song of MH. keep up the good work man, i´ll be waiting for more of your work OwO

Step responds:

Great to hear that; thanks for the review! Yeah the Ceadeus part is a bit slow, although I didn't want to keep the pace the same for the whole song.
