Full Title: "Sega CD USA Main Menu Screen V2 Piano"

Anyway, here is a piano/electronic cover of the main menu screen BGM for the USA version 2 of the Sega CD.

This is a collaboration between me and John "EspioKaos" Weeks.

MIDI Sequenced by John Weeks. Piano arrangement by Dr. Mack Foxx.

MIDI modified and used with permission. Please note: I do have written permission to post this from John Weeks.

I reply to all reviews so feel free to leave one. :)

I am considering remaking some music from Sonic CD at some point. Thanks for another great review, yet again! :)

I swear I thought this was V1. I remember that other song for the flip-top drive Sega CD Model 2. But man do I remember my first Sega CD, the drive tray slid out, and it always booted my games, even the ones that were scratched up. Model 2 though didn't work quite as well. I wish my brother would never have sold off my V1. Anyway, great job on the track.

Ah! The tray-loading Sega CD was the Model-1. :) In fact, I am working on a piano/electronic remake of that main menu theme, too! As well as the Mega CD main menu theme.

I'm very glad that you liked this song as well and thank you for another excellent review! Your feedback is greatly appreciated. ^_^

Man! Serious nostalga goin on here! I remember just letting the open play on just to hear this song. Either that, or my segacd would never boot the game disc, so this song just kept going.

I remember the first time I saw a Sega CD. It was back in 1993, housed in a plexiglass case at a Toys 'R' Us. Sure enough, a copy of Sonic CD was on display as well and only one word went through my mind: want! Sadly, $150 for the Sega CD and the game was far too much for me. ^_^;

I hope to do a piano/electronic remake of the Model-1 USA Sega CD boot screen one of these days, as well. At any rate, I'm very glad that you enjoyed this track son much and thank you for an excellent review! 'Tis greatly appreciated. ^_^

Seems like more of a battle theme than a main menu theme, but I guess that's what made the game more epic. :)
P.S. Can you do a piano version of this? :D

Actually, this song is not from a video game, but rather, a hardware add-on for the Sega Genesis called the Sega CD. It was released in Japan in 1991 under the name of the Mega CD and in the USA in 1992. Although this song is from the boot menu of the Model 2 of the USA version of the Sega CD. Glad that you enjoyed this song and thanks a lot for the great review! :)

As for remaking that song you linked to, I don't know if that will be possible. I'll take a closer look and see what I can do.

this is fine but i don't have any clue of what sonic game this is from, well anyways good job, as allways

DrMackFoxx responds:

Well, the source music this track is based on is not from a Sonic the Hedgehog game. In fact, this song originates from a hardware add-on for the Sega Genesis that was released in 1991 in Japan called the Mega CD, since the Sega Genesis is known as the Mega Drive in Japan and Europe. In the USA, the hardware add-on was simply called the Sega CD. In particular, the original song this cover is based on comes from the Model 2 version of the Sega CD that was released in the USA back in 1993. Basically, if you let the console site idle, a catchy tune would play while the Sega CD logo on the screen does various animations.

Glad you enjoyed this song and thank you very much for taking the time to leave another good review. It is always appreciated. :)
