A FALSE SENSE OF SATISFACTION
by: andrew Lysohirka
Taking the bus to work
I grab my metro
and what do I read
some bashar al assad
a tyrant doing what they do
killing people like me and you
I get off my stop, and stop and think
if my prime minister was killing our children
he would'nt live to see tomorrow
so why is there all this sorrow
why are they having to act like zorro
to put truths on facebook
people being used at checkstops like human shields
smile to the man with the gun when on camera
standing up for there rights and never gonna yeild
they dont want that on film,
so I punch in at work feeling safe
I change into my coveralls and know im not gonna get strafed
drug out into the street and shot well my mother watches
not gonna get put in prison cause im voicing an oppinion
angry at the ones in power making it hard to have a living
I get my paycheque every to weeks and every weekend i catch up on sleep
I dont gotta worry about insurgents in the night killin my brother
for backing the other side
I look over at my girlfriend smiling at me holding a kitty
she aint holding a dead baby screaming in pain after
rockets blew up her house and she dosnt know why
why do i cry inside
why dont i open wide, and reach out to them
when will there suffering end, when there leaders accept the
geneva conventions and turn them selves in?
