Hey, all! Here's my final track from OCR's 'Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet 2011'. This is my fourth round track... I wasn't expecting a final round to this thing. What a pleasant surprise. This is confirmed to be the final round, so this is it, ladies and gentlement. It's been a blast, but all good things come to an end.

For those that won't use the link, here's a quick rundown - everyone participating chooses a 'Robot Master'. The music from that Robot Master's level is to be remixed into every song you write. You are paired off with a Wily Castle track every round, a la free for all. It's a team effort, so each member tag teams which person will remix every week. This round is a bit different, in that I must use all of my team member's sources + a Wily boss theme, so I must use Dust Man, Magnet Man, Blizzard Man and Wily boss from MM3 (we had a choice between Wily boss themes - that was my selection). For shits and giggles I also included Wily Castle 3-1 and Schala's theme.
It's hard to classify this one, really. It's chiptune, orchestral and electro all rolled up into one. The sources are all there, but blended in such a way that they almost make up a whole new piece of music, altogether. It's just... really, really fun to listen to. It does take a little time to build into, though, so be patient - it's worth the wait, trust me.

Pretty nice work. Almost like hardware chip (SID).
Hah, that was the intention going into it - glad I got the effect I wanted. :)

I wonder what you use to get such good and crisp chip sounds...
All around superb mixing, production, and arrangements. I chuckled at the inclusion of Schala's theme in there; sure, why the hell not?
It's a damn fine piece.
The chip sounds are all made on Reason's 'SubTractor' synth - just set a pure, unaltered waveform and you have most of the chip sounds (the phased square sound takes a little altering, though). I've created the chip sounds on pretty much all of my synths pretty easily, though - try taking a look at a subtractive synth's base sounds, you'll probably find the waveforms needed to make these sounds (Square, Saw, Triangle, Sine).
Thanks for the comments, bro - glad you liked it.
