Needs a little something

Big vocal samples add to the variation in the early stages of the track and while this does add flavour, it doesn't showcase your own work. That part is repetitive and a little tacky, lacking in the all important variation and just giving us a step beat, that is something to walk along to.

Later in the track, when the vocals are taken out, this does work better, but by then, the damage has been done and I think that you'd gotten a little up-tight on it all. Perhaps experiment with a few instruments, perhaps a part of the track, where you change the pace, to see if something faster works in nicely. Music is a way of expression and at the moment, it seems like you want people to view you as slightly boring.

Take this track, change a few things - some major, some minor and let's see what sort of journey it takes you on.

Cheers, I'll try to take that stuff into account. Thanks for the review!

Good, but could use a touch up.

Firstly the snare could use a little bit of reverb. If not, layered with another, longer snare or clap.

Secondly, everything is MONO! You should add some expanders on the higher frequencies. It just gives the track a more natural and spacious feel.

There's not much of a build up to the "drop". Experiment with filters and FX to create some rising tension. Get the listener excited for what's to come next! As well as there being no build, the whole track is very flat. It has no dynamics. Also the overall mix could be a bit cleaner, maybe boost some of the high's and sidechaining the bass to the kick. Just little things like that.

Apart from those flaws, I enjoyed listening to this track. You've got the musical and creative side down, now you just have work on your technical side!

Great stuff! 7/10 4/5 Review Request Club

BulimicLemur responds:

Thanks for the review, I agree with a lot of what you said.

I was sort of looking for a more acoustic snare sound for this one, I was inspired by a sweet group called Koan sound.

Listening back now, you're right I should have panned things out a bit more, it would have made the track sound a lot cleaner and huger, and yeah it could have more build up, with some crazy effects, in my more recent submission I've tried to make the mix really clean after this one.

Cheers man!
