HA! Here we go - I managed to squeeze one more release onto Newgrounds before the year was over. To start with, here's the source for you all.

It's... an odd one. Well, there's a compo on remix.thasauce.net called the 'Freshly Baked Remixer's Competition' where everyone selects a source, and is then assigned another person's selected source. So while your source is arranged by someone else, you must arrange the source given to you. This is what was handed to me, and while I didn't like it much... well, that's the spirit of the competition; the luck of the draw.

Anyway, I just went all out chiptunes for this track. It's arranged in a highly 9-bit style, with a really funky bass. That's... pretty much all I can say about the arrangement - it's a short, fun funky 9-bit song.

Source - Boss Track (Felix the Cat)
Track - Felix Feels Funky
Original Composer - ... if anyone knows who originally made this I'd be happy to give credit.

Enjoy it while it lasts, which isn't that long, admittedly :P

holy reverb batman. there's nowhere near enough space in the mix for a reverb that big most of the time. it'd be cool if you automated the reverb decay to be shorter in the more busy sections, would make the busy parts feel tighter and the sparse parts more spacious.

the filtered breakbeats are cool, reminds me of the ratchet and clank soundtracks.

were you saying "9-bit" to be funny or something? :v

Gario responds:

9-bit is another name for fakebit, or emulated chiptune with other elements in it. Tends to be what I write in, most of the time.

Thanks for the review - those with advice tend to be the best. :)

Didn't know that they made a Felix the Cat game. Either way, as a kid Felix was my favorite cartoon character, had three or four VCR movie things of his and I loved them all.

Awesome work man, flows together really well.

Gario responds:

Thanks!

... Yeah, I didn't know there was a Felix game, either, until I was required to do this remix. Kind of a bland source for music, but you work with what you're given. Glad you enjoy my arrangement!

Better than the original

Totally awesome, lol

Gario responds:

Indeed it is - I've done my job well, I see.
