The bass in this song was created by taking the feedback of a guitar cable that was plugged into a virtual amp but not the guitar itself. Whenever I touch the plug of the cable it creates feedback which I could change depending on the way I touched it.

Definitely needs variation

But overall, I'm really impressed that you achieved this sound with just amp feedback. The bass you created through this method could only hold one note, as you mentioned before, but I would personally try running it through something like DBlue Glitch (though that's just me) to get some form of variation out of it.

The melody was really simple, so much so that I feel that it was there primarily so the bassline could have something to hold on to. If there was more complexity, if you took the melody and made it change as the song progressed, it'd definitely come out better.

I actually liked the drum beat, though the last few reviews said it sounded generic. It reminds me of the shuffling beats from UK Garage tracks and the way you changed it up with the bass really kept the song's pace up when the melody couldn't.

I think when people are reviewing a song on Newgrounds, they forget that they're not listening to some big-time producer, and so they judge based on the precedents those people set. Many, if not all of us, are just people doing something we like, how we like.

But yeah. For the creativeness that went behind taking simple feedback and making a Dubstep song around it, I gotta say this track's pretty kickass. Still, with the simplicity of the melody, it also leaves much to be desired.

you see

i think that this song is really empty and i dont know if i could call this dubstep

its not horrible but it needs a LOT of work i wouldnt call it a song at all
at least its not the worst thing on here this week

as for concept and potential it has enough but you really didnt take advantage of that now did you

try learning how to make your music progress that should help a little

Mrmilkcarton responds:

Aight I've decided to make this review an example. For those who care I do read your reviews.

If you are going to review someones song lets first start off by not insulting the producer/writer/composer's intelligence.

"i think that this song is really empty and I don't know if I could call this dubstep" - who died and made you in charge of genres? Dubstep is a genre and this is a STYLE of dubstep much like Electro house is another form of House music.

I'll also address this, "I think this song is really empty" - I'm not sure what you want from me here. Is it my mix? Or just the overall instrumentation? Your lack of information is why no one gives a damn about reviewing on newgrounds because the lack of knowledge is fantastic.

"It's not horrible but..." - Don't try to sugarcoat me, I know you don't like the song trying to be my friend isn't going to help you.

"I wouldn't call this a song" - I wouldn't calls this a review you hardly tell me whats wrong with the song and don't back it up.

"As for the concept and potential it has enough but you really didn't take advantage of that now did you" - Take advantage of what? If you think I can take advantage of something then obviously you have an idea that you did not express in the review.

"Try learning how to make your music progress that should help a little" - I'm not retarded. I'm well aware that my bass holds one note and sustains that note because the bass unlike many songs is constantly changing. This is because it's the fucking feedback from a guitar cable.

If you want to know the form of my song its ABAB'A. I had more of a background song in my mind not a put on your iPod and listen to it all day kind of song.

TLDR: If you are going to review a song please don't talk down to me like I don't know what I'm doing. Just tell me what you didn't like and how you would fix it.

Boring

This is very lame. The square solo doesn't change even once, the chord progression is what I'd call overused, no surprises, no nothing. The noisy bass rides one single note, hardly ever changing in sound aspects, the drums are more than generic. This whole story could have been told in one minute.
It is nicely mixed and mastered though.

Mrmilkcarton responds:

The bass could only play one note without sounding retarded. I guess you don't like my poly rhythms either. :( It was more about the creation of the bass rather then the song. This was just a place to download it if someone wanted.

Just because I got #1 top 5 doesn't mean I deserved it.

Interesting

If you had fun, then good. If you want an opinion without pandering then read on... else, please don't.

Honestly, I think this is weak. It's generic. It's probably what we want to hear, but fuck that. I'm here to hear what YOU have to say, and I don't feel like I just did.
