I live in an environment of middle-class teenagers, who go to school, and will soon move on to tertiary education, and eventually jobs, and then maybe have families and kids. Most of us are pretty smart, we're all pretty nice kids.

But from time to time, we want to get extremely drunk, and in these cases the preferred beverage of consumption -due to financial and taste factors- is a New Zealand-made bourbon and cola drink called diesel.

Not the best, but surely not the worst

A basic, somewhat slow track that moves from start to finish, but doesn't seem more than a ferry though the time for me, which is a shame. Perhaps it needs more variation to take it away from the mundane and up to the creative levels.

I think that you've got a good few vocal samples in the piece here and they have been used well, but with your beat and melody blending well into a nice backing track, I'd have expected more from a counter melody to really set this track alight. Once you'd got it there, suddenly, the potential of the track is closer to realisation and you can show off what you're really capable of.

Good track, muffled sound

This is a very interesting song. I like the vocal samples here a lot, they add a very special note to the track.

However, I think the song has a weird sound to it. Everything sounds a bit muffled, don't know if this was intentional or not. But I don't like it too much.

Yeah, I agree- I hear the muffled sound you're talking about. I'm not sure why that happened in this track eh. I may have just turned the bass up too much or compressed it too much.

Thanks for the critique

Creatively odd

Well the start gave a feel of feeling a bit sluggish and just giving up on life a bit for the night as the alcohol overtakes you and you can't stand up without help from some friends either. Very interesting though.

The synth has a very nice and calm feel and kind of feels a bit retro as well. Then the second synth sounds like it had a guitar distortion applied to it a bit for a guitar sound. The bass is nice and thick as it seems to be light to the feel and gives a feel like you had a really bad headache as you awake the next morning.

The drums remain calm but what drum sounds did you use anyways? They sound like they flowed well together. The vocals are cool though, Are they from a commercial or something showing the terrible effects of some drinks?

Overall, this was an interesting piece to listen to.

Sorry for the late reply! Same goes for any other reviewers. I love the review request club, you guys are awesome!

Yeah, I agree with you- it's definitely got that "headache-in-the-morning" feel. The drums I used for this song were these free "drumsamples.org" drums I found, but I did a lot of layering and stuff to try get the sounds right. I got 5 different snares and layered them together, each one being a different frequency, and I did the same for the kick. And I compressed both.

The vocals all come from me- recorded into my laptop's crappy mic. Hahaha, they probably could be in an anti-drinking ad though, yeah.

Thanks for the review man.

BulimicLemur responds:

I think I got double zero bombed, hahaha. Maybe people don't like alcohol references or something? I'm glad someone liked it.
