So it's officially the 17th, and I've been up doing this piece all night.
I had to take a break from some of my other works and it seemed like a good time to work on an old classic.
This is all unscripted--just something I had on my mind tonight. Please don't comment about being able to "hear the reverb" or that "there's too much reverb," because those are both artistic choices I used to simulate a dream setting as a child fades off into sleep. However, if you have any other feedback, I'd love to hear it! So leave me a review, and I hope you enjoy my choral rendition.

Lyrics:

Sleep my child,
Go to sleep my child,
Dream sweet dreams of olden times.
Dream my child,
Sweet dreams my child,
Rest your weary mind.
Waltz under moonlit trees,
Sail all the wondrous seas,
Give into all your dreams
And sleep.
Sleep my child
Go to sleep my child
Have no fear
I'm here by your side
Dream my child
Sweet dreams my child
The sun has said goodnight
Drift through the open sky
Wings spread and spirits high
Wave as the clouds go by
And Sleep
Sleep my child
Sleep my child
Sleep
Sleep
Sleep

Resplendent Beauty!

I cannot describe just how beautiful this work you have created here is, but I'll give it my best shot anyway. ^_^"

Just like with your "Lullaby of Time", this piece brings back so many Zelda memories, and unlocked a profoundness that I haven't experienced before. I can just picture Link, after countless battles with his enemies, having trouble sleeping at night because of the burdens of his quest in search of the princess Zelda. Then, in a fit of restlessness, he hears Zelda's voice softly singing her lullaby to sleep. And then Link drifts off to sleep, knowing that he will see her again someday soon. Then the next day, with renewed resolve, Link continues his quest.

The piece itself is stunning, and it left me trying to hold back tears while typing this. The words you chose fit the music almost seamlessly. Your voice is very angelic, as always, and the vocal parts you used for this piece give it a very hauntingly beautiful quality. That chord at around 1:44 sent shivers down my spine, as I am a sucker for such dissonant chords. When the repeating "sleep" line was playing at around 2:16, it almost reminded me of "Sleep" by Eric Whitacre. Is he, by chance, an inspiration of yours? I just love his works, and I hear a little bit of his mindset in your choral phrases.

And as far as the reverb effect you were trying to go for is concerned, you hit that intent of a child drifting off into sleep perfectly. I have nothing bad to say about it.

Overall, you have just left this musician astonished and impressed. It drives me to become a better composer and (hopefully) put up a work or two up on this site. Don't stop doing what you love. 5/5, 10/10

There are no words...

If I could somehow take back every other 10 I've given out in my life, and give only this a 10/10, I would. I think you've generated more worldwide happiness with this one song than I'll be able to over the next 5 years of my life.

The lyrics were perfect. Before this song, I wouldn`t have imagined English lyrics in a Zelda song working out at all. But you did these lyrics properly, and I think they gave ten times the emotion any Latin lyrics could have. My description here can`t do it justice. This is just so right and natural.

"Waltz under moonlit trees, Sail all the Wondrous Seas" was probably the highlight for me. That's the most beautiful... I'm not even going to try to capture what I feel about those words.

If Zelda existed, this is what she would sing to her children. If Zelda's caretaker existed, this is what she would sing to Zelda.

What else can I say? Oh, right:

Thank you for this! You've made my life a happier one!

VGSongbird responds:

Well that's fantastic! I love hearing that this was so wonderful for you, and it makes me feel like I've actually done something good with my life ^_^
Little secret... that little lyrical bit is actually my favorite too ;)

Thanks for your support!
