Blow Up The Sun
it's a love song... really!
I conceived the rhythm and melody of this song while sitting at a red light. The left turn signal sounds like a 4/4 (or 2/2) time beat, but I made it a 3/4 in my mind just for fun... and out came this song. The middle bridge is really aped from another song of mine, Control, then the whole 1st verse of Control was re-aped for Only A Couple of Dreams, which I recorded a whispered solo acoustic take of right before recording the original Just Being recording... so you kinda see part of the process here, that's why I'm saying all this... anyway, the lyrics have duality: imagine a man talking to his girlfriend/wife over the phone while she's in the hospital, trying to sleep, and you get the idea.
Dedicated to April-Lynn and Jay-Lynn.
"Blow Up The Sun"
sleep / imagine you're with me
you can hear me breathe / it's not overrated
then wake / and seize the day
or sleep the day / and stay the night
fight, babe / just to survive
and whilst you thrive / we will rule the nightshift
just breathe / take my breath away
if it'll ease your pain / if you'll be all right
now part-time partners in crime
I'll take you anyway that I can get you
girl you rock my world / but I can see this getting ugly
but at least I know you'll haunt me
just take my breath away / c'mon take my breath away
help me blow up the sun
who'll help me blow up the sun?
in love / if it's only one more day
or ten thousand more days / as long as you're mine
and as long as a smile is on your pretty face
and I can warm your fears away / make everything all right
fight, baby fight / just to survive
I'll steal you / and we'll blow up the sun
girl you totally rock my world / but your lips are turning blue
i'd clone new lungs for you
so take my breath away / please take my breath away
