So, after a long, long wait... I have finally sat down and finished Version 4 of "A Taste of...".
Things take a pretty mellow turn this time around, seeing as I wasn't sure how much higher I could make the climax of the song. This section also introduces a piano for the first time.

I've also made a few minor tweaks to the drum parts in earlier sections of the song, adding in more fills so as to avoid redundancy of hearing a single pattern just play on a loop.

Aside from the that, really the only thing new here is the next section. Hope you enjoy it! I know I do!

PS:
I also left a tiny snippet of the guitar riffs that'll be in the next section of the song as opposed to just dropping off like it did in Version 3.

Eh, V3 was better. That last part on the end of v4 kinda takes from the badassery you've got going here. Another note, the way it started in the beginning was abrupt. Maybe have 1/4 second of silence then a few beats to start it off. Nothing spectacular to improve. Great mental imagery.

Whenever I get around to it, I'll likely end up completely redoing this before I continue it anyways, so there are likely to be some pretty big changes.

I remember the first song I ever heard on the Audio Portal was Time Teaser, oh so many years ago. For years it just sort of sat on my hard drive, buried within mountains of other AP songs from a download binge when I was thirteen.

So, I found it again. Wondered what "Back-From-Purgatory" was up to. Found this. Listened to it. Cried many tears of joy.

This is honestly one of the most amazing pieces I've heard on this site. Thanks for making this!

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

And thanks for the review, makes me very happy to hear that you like it!

I´m not a fan of any kind of metal.

But this is (in my opinon) much better!

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

Well, I guess it's a good thing metal isn't the only music I do then!

Inspiring.

This music has an interesting and inspiring melody, reminds me of my favorite song on Matrix Soundtrack: Clubbed to Death, though not as heavy at first, but sweet in the end with the piano. I must say I am dissapointed it is not done yet as it would put ideas in my head with every beat, more classic instruments might add a more refine and delicate, yet heavy sound depending on how you mix them. I could picture this as a Cutscene for a battle before a boss evolving as the backsound for it and the dramatic end, but I guess I'll keep the ideas for when you're done with this masterpiece.

Great work, keep it up.

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

Funny you should mention the "Boss fight" theme... because someone on youtube actually used this song in a similar manner for an independent short film of a gunfight... It was actually quite entertaining, very well done.

I'm actually starting to throw ideas around for the next section now, so hopefully it won't be too long for the next version.

Thanks for the review!

Sweet

I'm not a huge metal fan, but this is pretty awesome. I especially liked the bridge at around 1:50, and then when the strings come in and layer on some more awesome.
Great job!

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

Glad you enjoyed it regardless of not being a metal fan.

Thanks for the review!
