I hope this is a better mix of the song. Everyone I've heard from loves the original, but I keep hearing that the vocals need to be louder...so I've boosted them here for what I hope is a better mix.

Had a request for the lyrics...so here they are:

Camp David

I seen it coming on the evening news
It was, like, swirly and white and all surrounded in blue
It's headed northbound, up to the Orleans coast
and all the newshounds around where they can profit the most
but they ain't downtown, 'cause that's the poor neighborhood
See, the drowning of suburbia; now that looks good!

And all the rich folks have up and driven away
Some kinda sick joke they know they'll never have to pay
they've got insurance on their bungalows and SUVs
They bought it with the dough that didn't go to fix the levees

It's a direct hit, storm-surge, barrier test
and it's a bad fail, mad bail, no money invested
and he jested that Brownie did a heckuva job
and Halliburton's already working on the VPs knob.

Unleash the police force in force
Armin' alarms and checkin' doors
Walking around with guns is fun
Wearin' a BDU, of course!

They say protection is the singular goal,
I'm askin' how is it that black men are the only ones with bullet-holes?

Aftermath; the city's just a toxic pool,
But he's got rubble-standing photo-ops and people to fool,
And now Moore takes the floor, askin' what's it all for;
We got no National Guard to help, 'cause they're all off at the war.
We'll just explain it all away, and vilify Kanye,
And, what the hell, they can stay in the Superdome for one more day.
To fix it all, we'll raise the price of gas to $4.03
What the hell, you thought this wasn't corporatocracy?

10,000 people either dyin' or dead,
Let's all play the guitar, like there ain't a thing in our heads.
It's Camp David, Camp David, Camp David,
I guess there ain't a thing we should be worked up about

10,000 people either dyin' or dead,
We'll get drunk and shoot a lawyer, as long as nothin' is said.
It's Camp David, Camp David, Camp David,
I guess there ain't a thing we should be worked up about

10,000 people either dyin' or dead,
We'll do a quick fly-over now, and put it to bed!
It's Camp David, Camp David, Camp David,
I guess there ain't a thing we should be worked up about

respect.

respect. always respect for ACTUAL socio-political songs. rally songs. society songs. and any song with 'BDU' in the lyrics seems like my kinda thing lol
9/10 (but 5 stars) for the improved mix and addition of lyrics. i've just recently come to start posting lyrics all the time, so yeah. the 1 point off is basically just for the weird voice during the verses which i'm sure everyone else loves. it's weird to me, but it probably works for most people to subdue the utter seriousness of the lyrics, etc. it's just me.
keep up the good work. keep tellin' it. be well.

HAHA! Yeah, somehow I worked BDU into the lyrics. The voice was kinda my take on what an old veteran from the south coast might sound like. I call the character Grillz-E, and I imagine he's probably been through so much he realizes that there really isn't much point in trying to be serious anymore. So he has fun tellin' it like it is.

Simply amazing

Awesome song, really digged the vocals, the guitar was simple and yet catchy. Good lyrics, although I can't quite understand all of them, could you post them please?

Ceevro responds:

Thanks! The lyrics have been posted.

I thought about what to say in this song since the event...I doubt I have it in me to write at this level normally. I'm very glad I said something meaningful...

Oh, and before I forget, the guitar was actually me playing guitar on four tracks, one strum, one picked, one bassline, and one slapping the body for percussion. The chords were easy, arrangement was a little tougher, but it flowed pretty naturally once I got the strum track laid down.

Love It.

Sounds so 90's. Has a Louisiana Blues influence, but then again it should given the context of the lyrics. This is seriously just unbelievably good. Good fuckin Job.
