Halloween2011

A little loop I made for Halloween. I doubt it'll place in the competition since it only took me 3 hours but it was fun to make anyway.

It uses East/West Symphonic Orchestra VST for everything except the drums which are random drum samples.

Enjoy!

Extremely well done!!!!

I listened to this three times in a row without even knowing it was looping! hahaha
great job on choosing the instruments, It shows that you've got your shit down and that you've been doin this for a while now. Don't stop the music bro!!!!!

but wait where'd you get that plugin cuz i'm lookin' for some good orchestra sounds

Aw thanks, very glad you liked it!

This uses East/West Symphonic Orchestra Silver. It's a really awesome VST and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for orchestral samples, but at $200 it doesn't come cheap :P.

Edirol Orchestra and Garritan Personal Orchestra are both good (and much cheaper) alternatives. You won't get the sound quality of East/West but it's not as expensive.

Then, there are these:

and these:

which are free soundfonts.

Hope that helped, thanks for reviewing!

A quick little one

I have to say that the quick time in which this was made shows quite a lot when compared to some of your more polished pieces. Not quite as innovative and sort of rushed. Its also got a little too much action and speed to it, for it to quite make the cut as a halloween themed song in my opinion. But maybe thats just me. However I got to give you a lot of credit where its due, because you produced a 3 hour made song better than something I could come up with in 3 days. But hey, progress right?

I like the choice of instruments though, I think you had that part spot on. You just didnt quite grasp the feel of them. When I think horror I instantly hear in my head songs like The Exorcist or Halloween theme song. You know what Im trying to get at there? But then its pretty damn good for a quick one, and it loops quite nicely. You should definately work on a full horror/halloween project because that would be awesome. But anywho, pretty good, 8/10 4/5

Thanks for yet another review!

"I have to say that the quick time in which this was made shows quite a lot when compared to some of your more polished pieces. Not quite as innovative and sort of rushed."

Oh yeah, definitely. Totally agree with you there, I rushed this. Usually when I make songs, I take at the very least half a week before I decide that the song is ready, and here I made this in 3 hours which is a massive difference. Some people can make some great-sounding songs in a few hours but unfortunately I don't think I'm one of them :P.

"Its also got a little too much action and speed to it, for it to quite make the cut as a halloween themed song in my opinion. But maybe thats just me."

Personally I thought I got the tempo just right, but the progression is very rushed. Perhaps if I built the song up a bit more and made some more soft parts, it wouldn't feel too quick/full of action. So yeah I think it might be the rushed progression which makes it seem like that.

"However I got to give you a lot of credit where its due, because you produced a 3 hour made song better than something I could come up with in 3 days. But hey, progress right?"

That's not a fair comparison. Practice makes perfect :P.

"I like the choice of instruments though, I think you had that part spot on."

Yeah I'm a little proud of the instrumentation here too. I'm not proud of much in this song though, lol.

"You just didnt quite grasp the feel of them. When I think horror I instantly hear in my head songs like The Exorcist or Halloween theme song. You know what Im trying to get at there?"

I see what you mean. This might be more of a soundtrack to some fight, rather than a disturbing/scary Halloween song.

"But then its pretty damn good for a quick one, and it loops quite nicely."

Lol, I was wondering about whether the loop was good or not. Good thing you think it is :D.

"You should definately work on a full horror/halloween project because that would be awesome. But anywho, pretty good, 8/10 4/5"

Thanks for reviewing, as usual! I doubt I'll have time for a full Halloween song, and I'm not proud of this enough to continue it, so I don't know if that'll be possible. You can hear my last year Halloween submission if you want, though :3. 'Eclipse (Edit)' if you're interested!

Thanks for the feedback!
