I think it needs a little more effort.

When ur friend said add bass, he probably meant as a filler. Sometime to keep it all synchronized and in tune. Maybe just play a single note over and over again really fast might work or you could do some neat bass lines.

You could have even done it on only certain parts so that there can be a dramatic change in music. Plus, it wasn't quite so diverse, and near the end it seemed like u just ran out of ideas.

And, I think the drums were al right, but if it were me, I might have added alittle more to the beat to give it the feel of faster tempo with out actually increasing the speed. Sorta like the difference between "Common Time" and "Cut Time" (incase ya don't know those are terms in music, but you sorta make music so probably already know that).
