Little Dance Beat Idea Thingy?

Yeah, I think I've really done it this time. Not exactly my best idea ever. Certainly original, and unique for me, considering that most of the stuff I've done is rock (well, the only song I have up right now is rock, shut up). More stuff made in GarageBand.

This started out as a test for putting more "boom" into the dance kit for experimentation. I made a quick little dance loop (kicks, snares, triangle on a trance-hihat-like loop). Played it repeatedly my awesome stereo, and it sounded pretty neat-o. So I figured, "hey, why not make a whole song out of it?" And so I did.

This is my first dance-type song, so it may not be up-to-par with everyone's standards.

Almost everything in this I made myself. The exceptions were a sample hi-hat-and-clap flange sound and the outro rewind sound. A few parts were inspired by some of the loops. Most obviously that guitar that sounds like it was played in a gospel style on a keyboard.

And now, for no reason, I dedicate this to my friends working at ABC who don't like rock-n-roll.

Oppossums! (Why? Because you would ask.)

Nice to listen to

Although it's dance it has a very ambient feeling to it.
And the solo at 1:03 also gave it something like jazz.
It's a little bit of everything and I really like that!
I also have a lot of these loops I would love to make to whole songs but I'm afraid it would be annoying for other people. I love monotonous stuff! ^^
Keep it coming! You're good! =)

Thanks dude! Thing is, I make my own loops, and some are inspired by the Apple loops, not taken and pitch-shifted. Problem is when I make a crap-ton of them, and none go together well. But thanks dude! Some of the simple things in life are good! :D

this sounds cool

I like this one mate. The melody ideas and effects are cool and it has a professional sound to it.. I think I'll keep this on for a while :)

UltimateCJ64 responds:

Thanks dude! I wasn't quite sure how professional would sound, so I just mixed everything as best I could. Glad you enjoyed, dude! :D

Steady

Well I like this as it sounds very steady moving and kind of reminds me of the final battle in Paper Mario actually which is pretty cool I guess. Sounds like a really retro boss battle theme so this seems to go well while it is being heard as well. The tune seems to give a feeling of hope as you rush at the boss hoping to win in the final showdown here too.

The guitar sounds very nice and quite smooth too. The piano gives you a calm feel as you go forth hoping not to get crushed or harmed as the battle rolls onward. The bass sounds quite thick and gives a great feel to the song as well. The drums help finish the song with a nice sounding sweet beat here as well.

Overall, very boss like song, quite enjoyable as well.

It does seem like a VG boss song, doesn't it? Not exactly what I was going for, but it sure would sound neat that way too.
The piano was a sort of derivative of me messing around on the keyboard, although with more sustain. Bass was intended to be thick, I'm glad it was.
Thanks for the review, dude! :D

Cool song dude!

This sounds like it could fit right into a platformer Video Game bro!
It actually reminds me of something that you would hear in A Spyro, Sly Cooper, or Ratchet & Clank game to be more specific.

I Like the drums, guitar work, leads, and effects in this piece (minus the pitchy phasing during the intro). The rhythm is nice; Driving, but not too pushy. I really have to say that the composition of this piece sounds very professional, even though some things could have been mastered better.

Overall though; I really love this dude (Very reminiscent of many of my favorite VG soundtracks, but all at once)

Thanks, dude!
I actually did have a couple video game inspirations (the synth strings was an idea from a rave-like song from DX Ball 2, for example). I'm gonna need to look up some of the songs from Spyro and Sly; haven't seen those games for years
I tried to avoid over-pushing on this one, and it seems to have worked. You're right about the mastering though; I was mainly going for some bass boom when I did the drums, mainly listened on a large stereo system while working on it.
Glad you enjoyed! :D
