I wrote this song using Famitracker, for my game, Snailiad! :-) You can download the rest of this soundtrack from my site (auriplane.net), including the NSF files, if you like.
This was the second song I wrote for the game (the first was the boss battle theme). It's about a forty-second loop. Before this song, I tried using Famitracker by just typing in things that I had in my head. For this song, though, I came up with the melody and bassline on real instruments (guitar and bass), and I tried to emulate the articulations that I used while playing. That helped me a lot with my vibrato and pitch bend placement, I think! It sounds much more natural than the ones I came up with entirely on a computer.
In any case, enjoy Snail Town! :-) I'll try to upload some more from Snailiad, because someone sent me a message requesting them for the Audio Portal. I think I'm limited to two per day, though, so for now it'll just be Snail Town and Amastrida Abyssus.

Very nice
I d say that that kind of rythms is too modern/realistic. It would fit perfectly for a city of a Sim game, where the guy can use its skate to move faster etc.
The city atmosphere is well felt.
But the rythm gives it a modern suburb style, maybe not fitting for such fantasy game

Very good
Is this inspired by some other video game music?
Not consciously, but I love game music and I'm sure that shows in my compositions! Really all I did was program some drums in FT, leave it looping and improvise a bassline on bass guitar, program THAT in FT, leave the bass+drums looping and play some guitar over it, program that too... That's my approach to coming up with 8-bit game music, most of the time ^-^
