COH - Antagonist's Theme

Part of the (Church Of Hope) Collection

A tense drastic theme for the antagonist to plot his next move, getting rid of the hero before he complicates the entire operation. He sits in his chair, listening to his henchmen explaining the trouble they've encountered with the Hero. Only to get even more pissed.

I wanted to do something that sounded cool, and evil therefore the trumpet moves in to make something stylish while the strings plotted the evil feeling. It needed to sound Semi-Ambient, Semi-Tense, and Semi-Bad Ass, I didn't want to make it too dark. It needed to be a theme that can be mixed into various other themes. This theme is going to be heard in darker themes so don't knock it just yet.

This is the Official Theme for the Main Enemy of the story

*Note* The Main Trumpet Part will be the one mixed into my next soundtracks

Sorry for the delayed review. I've been working.

I really like the ideas found here. I would really try to build some different chord progressions to add some variety and pique more interest. While it was interesting in the beginning where it bellowed up, it got a little tiresome after some time. The trumpet melodies were very nice though. I would try to build some more harmonies using violins. You did use an oboe (or at least what I perceive to be an oboe), but I think the parts could be made even more exciting.

Some tempo variations could help give the idea of a story progression as well. I really wanted it to speed up, but it didn't happen.

Now for the good: the melodies were quite interesting. I liked the stark contrast between the royal sounding trumpet, majestic in nature, with the dark, almost overpowering strings. Nice job on creating the mood. Since this is a stand alone, some sound effects could also come in nicely.

Now don't take my word for everything, since I'm not expert myself. That's just my two cents.

I really appreciate the review, I've been working with classical music for more then a year so I'm just trying to add some variety to the genre, and the Oboe is actually a clarinet, as for the sound effects. I did think about adding some but then it might tear the person away from the actual song. I'm really glad I got the mood and I'm not done with the theme because I have to shove it in a fighting theme and a Boss theme and maybe another encounter theme so I will try your suggestions, thank you so much :D

Evil

Kind of reminds me of Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII actually. This does sound like a very dark and evil theme though so that worked out well anyways. Nice effects and all since it makes it all sound darker.

The trumpets have a very dark sound to them so that works out well with a piece like this in my opinion so nice working on it. The harp when it comes is very light and sinister actually. The bass like sound is also very cool here. It just makes it sound darker.

I think this would work as a pre boss battle theme as you did a nice job working on this one.

Overall ,creative and very dark feeling.

Ironclover responds:

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! It could work as a pre-boss battle theme, a plotting theme, or just as a main theme. I didn't use a harp or any bass. I only used the Cello, Clarinet, French Horn, Violin, and the Trumpet, as well as some sounds :D
