For one whole week the DSL light on my internet modem was flashing. And somehow it inspired me to make a new song.

This can still use A LOT of work though. I still don't know much about mixing or mastering. Or many other components to a song.

For example, how to classify which genre it is under. (I put it as dance hope thats right)

Please, give me your opinions on this song. Any tip will be appreaciated

Bass issues.

I'm going to cover the main issues first: I think that the bass might have been a bit too low, because when you emphasize the drop, it becomes nicely mixed, and I notice that its because the bass could be clearly heard at this point in which everything becomes audible. You might want to adjusted the volume-levels to promote a stronger bass when all the drums comes in later near the intro.

Other then that, I think this is a very nicely composed piece that you have hear, and I really don't have any complains aside from the bass being too low. Good work with this one!

I mixed using headphones, bad idea. I put it through my tv and it does sound different. I'll see if I can fix that.

Thanks for the review!

Nicely composed

I'm actually really enjoying this track, even though it's not my kind of music. Dance sounds about right, might be a bit more techno, but that really isn't a problem. Genres are for journalists, you know (:

The intro was really nice, built up nicely and got the song going.

The rhythmics weren't exactly entertaining, they were quite dull and repetitive, but in a song like that, I can't really demand intricate and complicated rhythms. It kept the pulse up and pushed the song forward. Other than that, they were very well executed.

Especially liked the drop at 2.08. Synths are very well done, sounds clean and just right for the nature of the song.

The ending was maybe a bit abrupt, probably because of the buildup just before. The ending itself was not bad at all, I just don't know if you should build up to it before dropping it.

I'm not sure what's happening with the cymbal, but it seems to drown out the rest of the song a bit when it's played.

Thanks for the review.

The song isn't finished, i just decided to post it since I haven't posted anything in a while. And I wanted some opinions to see if it was worth continuing.

And now I know, the new version won't end abruptly like that. Don't know when it'll be finished

I'm gettin' down to this!

Really enjoying the funky, grooving feel of this piece. I visualize several lights going off in time with each part as it comes in. Really would work as a rave track.

The synth works just right for this piece, giving it a really strong electronic feel. The drumline is also awesome in keeping the whole thing moving. The fade-out at the end is also great. I might suggest turning the cymbal down at 1:30, it kind of drowns out the other parts for a bit.

Great work on this one! Inspiration is an invisible hand that slaps you in the face when you least expect it. Whatever works, more power to you. Keep it up!

The drowning out at 1:30 is an example of sidechaining gone wrong.
I'm looking for some good mastering tutorials but they are hard to come across

Groovy groove

Really like the hopping atmosphere of this song. Kind of imagine kittens with this piece for some reason. Blink and you might miss them being adorable. Very nice sounding piece though.

Really like how wet the bass sounds here too. The bass just seems to have a sound of its own which is cool with me. The synth blasts and sounds slightly broken up but still very nice to the ears. The secondary synth plays really high but cool notes.

The drums here have a very nice sounding beat to them so I think you managed to do an excellent job there on those. Very nice tune though.

Overall, awesome dance beat.

Cool Song Bro

I originally expected the crash at the beginning to have some sort of compression, because the synth was kinda muffled, and it would seem dreamily fuzzy if it had, or perhaps you were somehow OUTSIDE of the club.

And not to be picky but i would like some kind of snare build-up before that compress at 2:08

other things: perhaps the synth itself is too loud, or the bass is turned down, i feel a disturbance in the composition

otherwise, its cool, and i can definitely see how a week of flashing LEDs could inspire the awesome work that is this piece. so this is a keeper. i will keep it in my library forever and i will cherish this gift till the last few days of eternity

vanderweisman responds:

Thanks for the 10!
And well, I did say that my mixing, mastering and EQing could use some work. I'll throw a compressor on some of the sounds.

I'm still learning the basics of FL really, and the basics of song composition.
But I love the positivity you guys have, thanks once again!
