It's not a bad track, and it's not a bad 8-bit remix. I just think you could've added some more oomph to it. Just because it's 8-bit doesn't mean it has to sound flat.
You got the tune spot on, though. The bass feels a bit out of place, might want to replace that with another sample of sorts.

Good Remake
I enjoyed the remake, and considering your goal is to make it into 8-Bit format, sounds as good as it's gonna get.
There's nothing else for me to say but to fix up the beats a bit, they sound scratchy at times.

Sounds alright
Not something I truly care for though sadly. This remake also sounds a whole lot better than the original.
The noises, bass, and drum like sound are all very calming as well. I think this could do well for a game where you are in the mines I think.

On the bright side, it's mostly within the limits
... but on the down side, it limits itself a little too much. Why no Triangle love? Needs some triangle wave in there :(
I think the mix could use a bit more balance in the mixing. Keep things within a pretty close level, and make sure the sound doesn't hit the ceiling too hard (which happens here quite often on the main track). A slight nitpick, but the instrument combination on 0:22 goes against NES conventions (2 rectangle, 1 triangle, 1 noise, 1 PCM). I know not everyone goes for the true NES limitations, so I won't knock you for that.
It's a decent effort. Keep on truckin' and you'll get the hang of it.

I agree that It could have used some more balance. I did not know about the conventions of the NES at 0:22, and thank you for being specific, as I wouldn't have been able to pinpoint the exact moment for a while. Oh... and about the triangle waves...
This entire piece was supposed to have more of a bite than an actual slick texture of sound to it. If you wish to hear a good use of triangle, check out my Ballad of Special Fred song. It pulls it off well I believe. But flawless review.
