*JUDGE REVIEW - MAESTROSORROW*

mhb's try and fail

Faction 2
Originality : 17
Diversity : 16
Clarity : 16
Effort : 18
Melody : 16 +2

Overall : 84

Originality:
I liked the progression of the song here, a GREAT deal. It starts off with a rather basic beat, and then at 0:58, you introduce that whole new air, that just blew me away. I especially enjoyed that part, because it gives the whole song a fresh look.

Diversity:
The song didn't have too many instruments going on (some kind of synthy harp, with the guitar), but there was quite a bit of variation and diversity in the piece itself, so kudo's on that. There were some impressive riffs going on!

Clarity:
This is where you lost quite a few points mhb. I realize, controlling the guitar is like dutch murder, so seldomly heard of, and when one uses the compresser on it, it muddles the rest of the song. I understand all this, so I didn't hold it against you too much, still, that guitar did cause a fair deal of muddlement and just a tad bit of distortion (outside of what you wanted of course)

Effort:
A fairly good amount of effort was put into the song, and I truly appreciate how it turned out. However I would have liked you to spend more time with the filters, manage some more equalizing.

Melody:
3:26 -> worlds most ramazing riff ^^.
0:54 (and some other places), that melody I absolutely adored it, for just this small riff melody I awarded you +2 points.

The overal melody is simple until 0:54, after which it begins to take that new light, and then the song changed forever for me.

Overall impression on me:
The percussional work, which I could barely hear in the background, should be much much louder. And more varied. For riffs this cool, you need some sick ass drum beats to comply with them.

at 2:43, you have this one guitar note, fading on top of melody, and I enjoyed that a fair deal, gave the song a more realistic air... heh, just wanted to point that out.

Though I did enjoy the synthy melody in the background, I would have looked to mix it up a bit, throughout the whole song, it remains constant, and though I realize that its not supposed to draw much if any attention from the listener, it would have made the song a fairly good amount better in my opinion.

The song had good structure.

Nice ending ^^.

Great stuff mhb, thank you for joining the contest and giving us this piece!

Sweet, but it needs drums...

...which I would be happy to help out with. Maybe we could do a colab? Just an idea, I can play drums, but it might sound wierd because of my mics. Anyways, to the muzik...

-Great melodies, the intertwining of them was fun to listen to. Has a serious "out of my way" kind of attitude to it.

-Lots of diversity between guitars.

-I have to say though, sometimes, certain guitar parts were hard to here, it would be nice to here certain guitar parts compared to others at certain parts.

-Overall, great job. Keep it up! Reply if you want me to make drums for this, because I'd be happy to.

NGAudioArtists responds:

this is mhb. the song has drums. it's just hard to hear 'em 'cause to eq this piece was a bitch. but i would be more than happy to do a collab with you. send me an e-mail at metal_n_rap_pimp@yahoo.com with the topic as superdrummer146 so i know it's you. i got a lot of songs made up that i need drums for so if you're willin' to collab on more than one track that would be great. as for this song i'm gonna leave it as is 'cause this isn't the real version of the song anyways. this is more like a half-assed dance remix. but let me know if you're interested.

What's the lead?

If the guitar's supposed to be the lead, you might want to tone down the synth volume a bit. Very 80's metal-ballad, I like it, but the guitar tends to get drowned out by the synth.

I realize this may be nitpicking, but it's the first thing I thought.

Cool

This had a lot of stuff goin on in the background, technoy stuff but it mended well enough with the guitar that it was a good adition I think. I love it when about a minute into the song, 2 guitars in harmony kick in . . . thats the best sound in the world. Also the main theme was pretty cool and had me bobbin my head. Around 2 minutes into the song there's some real cool fast picking that I liked. I thought the song maybe went on too long, because at the end things start getting a little too repetative and would have liked to see another new riff thrown in there (but I have ADD so maybe thats just me) It was a really good song good luck with the competition

HAHAHA....

Man, it was good. Love the melodic guitars. A co-worker listening as well started singing the theme to Fame with it...so I kicked his ass!
Good shit man.
