About the genre of this song, not that genres really freakin matter, but for the sake of discussion... According to the late Bradley from Sublime, Ska music is just upbeat Punk rock without the fuzzbox distortion. And I'd say Mr. Nowell is a pretty darn good reference. So, yeah, this could fit under Ska.

Nice work, by the way.

I think I first heard this song back last October, and didn't stop to write a review until now. It was the first song I heard from you guys, and still my favorite. Electric Narwhals has some great stuff, this included. I don't know that it's necessarily Ska either, but it's borderline between Indie and Ska. Genres are dumb like that sometimes.

Man, your trumpeters and sax man are on fire in this song, enough said. The vocals aren't perfect, but I blame that on the recording, not your skill. I can definitely feel the edge of them, even through the NGAP filtering process. Don't stop posting on NG, guys. It's free, you get some pretty decent exposure, and I know I'm always happy to hear your stuff.

Ska?

this belongs in the ska portal. it's good ska though!

trabajaba7 responds:

Yeah I suppose it does, but I always thought of this as very loosely ska, because when I think of ska I think of Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake, and this is nothing like them and I guess I thought it fit more in indie. Genres suck end of story.
Thanks for the compliments though!
