This is a great song, aptly titled. Definitely see this as being some sort of movie soundtrack item. A great almost romantic feel.

one two three four FIF!

Look at you John, got a great deal of good composers listening to your every note, I will now joine them ^^.

Onto the review!

The sad melody was exceptional, it grabbed my attention right away, and as John_Floyd suggested, some eqaulizing would have done this piece a lot of justice.

There seems to be a clash in notes here man, the two piano melodies are not very compatible, I would recommend introducing them seperatly instead of at the same time, or look over those notes, keep one of them simple bass notes, and keep the lighter melody going.

I would advice against trying to create melodies on top of an instrument with the same instrument, that keeps them muffled. For example, instead of having them both piano's, have one of them perhaps a violin, and then the other a piano, this adds a lot of flavour, AND it allows the melody to flow much smoother, as well as adding to the voice and emotions of the piece.

4/5 from me JohnF_N, keep them coming, I will keep listening.

Thanks for the review! It totally just made my day :D

Yeah the melody was a stroke of luck. I was hitting random notes and then I realized 'hey, that's pretty good'. I realized after testing out John Floyd's advice that that did really help it out (especially drums)

Yeah, you're right about the two piano melodies, the second one totally drowns out the first. I'll keep your idea about bass/melody in mind, that could be helpful.

Your also right about the two instrument thing. Most of the time I try to use seperate instruments for each melody, but for some reason now and then I use the same one. I'll keep this in mind in the future, cause your totally right :D

Thanks for the review again, this is very helpful!

A suggestion on how to give drums "meat:"

EQ and Pan. Each person has their own preferenecs, but slightly panning each drum will add a little depth. EQing so that each drum has it's own frequency (bass drum will probably claim a low range, snare probably a high range) where it's allowed to "punch" through a little bit will add a lot too. Because you've assigned them their own frequencies, you can turn up their volume a little and it won't drown out the rest of the instruments. Try it out, see if you like it!

Author's Response:

Ooh, thanks a lot! I'll try this on my next song! I have to say, I've never used EQ before, so this is gonna be fun :D

I like the pads a lot. They really support the piece. I think your drums could have a little more meat to them, they sounds a little thin. Nonetheless, nice work!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review!

Yeah, I still stink at drums... I'll get there sometime...

...once someone teaches me how...

But thanks!
