This is a collection of the jingles and short songs from the 1991 video game Sonic the Hedgehog in a piano/electronic arrangement. The idea of this track is in case anyone is looking for Sonic-themed jingles to use in their Flash cartoons or games.

This seemed like a better idea than having a separate submission for each one of the 9 rather short tunes included in this file.

It's just a matter of picking the songs out of this file that you need. :)

Here are the short tunes included in this song in the order they are heard: Title Screen, Extra Life, Stage Clear, Chaos Emerald, Drowning, Game Over, Will You Continue?, Invincibility, Ending Scene.

This is a collaboration between me and John Weeks.

MIDIs Sequenced by John Weeks. Piano arrangements by Dr. Mack Foxx.

MIDIs modified and used with permission. Please note: I do have written permission to post this from John Weeks.

I reply to all reviews so feel free to leave one. :)

you can maybe see from the special zone...

that i meant to give an 8 but for my own confucion, it is 10...i ques i am getting sleepy, but no worries...i'l continue my mission to find the answer to why didn't i see your message in my own post and also to mention, it's always nice to hear these short ones too, this only proves that you are really gonna remix all of the sonic game music's with John Weeks, but to tell you the truth, from here on, i'm gonna review them all...when i remember ;)

DrMackFoxx responds:

Well, your reviews are appreciated, even if they are somewhat... convoluted from time to time. ^_^ ;

Glad you enjoyed this compilation of jingles and such. :)

The drowning music still makes my heart beat faster , lol. Great collection and well done too, 10/10.

Wonderful! Yeah, the Drowing Theme in it's many incarnations in the series was always something that got my pulse going as well. I can't remember how many times I ended up with Sonic croaking in the pink slurry of the 2nd Act of Chemical Plant Zone in Sonic 2. ^_^;

Great that you enjoyed this compilation of all those jingles and whatnot. :) Thanks for another great review, too!

I was hoping..

I was hoping this would be a medley on the piano, not a collection of jingles played as MIDIs. But for what it's worth, it's great haha. I could see this working on some Sonic flashes. The only thing I'd say is about the bass- it's electronic, and sometimes it continues after the piano is done and it sounds awkward o:

Other than that one detail, I liked the collections.
I was(and still do) hoping that this would be an actual piano though :<

Well, glad to hear you liked this collection, anyway. :) Seemed like a better idea to compile all the jingles and short themes from Sonic 1 into one file instead of ending up with 9 different submissions. The purpose of this track really is more utilitarian than anything else. Granted, if you search for "Sonic Jingles" in the Audio Portal, this is currently the only track that will be displayed in your search results. Kinda gives you an idea of how often these jingles are redone. ^_^;

As for the bass, you do have a good point. While the bass is supposed to trail off for the Title Screen and Ending Scene, it should not have for some of these other short tunes. Oh, well...

I also must say that, although I can play the piano myself a bit, I don't have access to real instruments or good recording equipment. So, my works are going to have to be MIDI-based. In fact, tracks made only with real instruments are not very common in the Audio Portal. Some MIDI sound sets are very, very good.

Sorry this was not quite what you were looking for. May I recommend my tune "Sonic 1- Special Zone Piano"? Probably more along the lines of what you were expecting from this track.

At any rate, thank you very much for the review. I appreciate it. :)
