I was writting some stuff in FL Studio, then I suddenly decided that I wanted to return to Famitracker for a song. My original idea was to do a DUBstep 8-Bit, but I forgot about that and decided to make this instead. Only now am I reminded of my desire to make an 8-Bit DUB song. So I'll probably do that next, but for now, listen to this new song. I thought it was pretty awesome. A little different from my normal style, but I think it turned out good.

BPM 180

I wouldn't worry about the harshness of this sound.. this IS how they sounded back in the day.. the harsh and gratingness of them is what made them iconically 80s.. so good job man :)

reviewed 2 and a half years later hahaha..

To think the first time I talked to you was, what like 2 years ago now? Crazy how time flies. Thanks for the review ^_^

A little harsh at points.

It definitely has the old school feel, but this reminds me more of one of those tunes that would make me turn off the sound and play something else on the stereo. It's just too discordant at times for me, and I feel like the different lines aren't working well together at points. Also, not particularly spacey but the tunes from that era's space games sound like this, not spacey. I do love the end.

PainasaurusRex responds:

While I accept that it's harsh, it's how they sounded back in the day... especially if their sounds were square heavy, which mine are. Also, it's suppose to sound like the retro space games, not necessarily spacey... Just saying. Though I can tell by the rating you didn't hate it, so I accept your criticism and will work on making it less harsh and make it work together better in the future. Thank you for taking the time. It really means a lot to me.

Nice 8-bit

You got a good 8-bit sound. I liked the first minute the most for some reason, not saying the rest is bad. Got some good melodies and harmonies, well done. Good luck to your sir in the contest.

PainasaurusRex responds:

Thank you my good sir/madam (though dave would be a strange name for a girl, not intended to insult you if this is true) and thank you for wishing me lukc in the competition. Luckily for me I've already had some experience in 8-Bit lol

Not rated well enough, like most good songs on NG.

This song is very good for an 8bit song. You make your stuff sound very much like NES music which is awesome. Also, the melody is very developed and not just thrown together. You focus less on mixing to make it sound Grade A and instead you make something that is genuinely good.

So many NG people could learn from you.

PainasaurusRex responds:

Thanks a bunch, it means a lot to me :D I'll keep trying to produce some good music haha
