Just be patient with this one, maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised ;D

p.s. If you're gonna give me a shit score at least let me know why. I know there are some pricks out there that would dish out terrible ratings just to have their songs that much closer to the top of the list. We've all put SOME amount of effort into our tunes, people. Just be fair for Christ's sake.

agreements here and there

I agree with some of the people reviewing this mix: I felt like the hip hop drum line held the song back, but I thought the quick ending was fine. I really liked the bits that you mixed together in the middle, though. It was a really interesting experience.

Hm...Not quite...

This isn't at all a bad song to me - but when I click dubstep I expect a good song with a heavy beat that can be fast / slow / almost ambient / tranceish / Sci-fi / all sorts of things...But I don't like the "hip-hopy" type style this went with. I know I'll get a lot of "crap" from the other reviewers and probably just get flamed but heres my suggestions..

1.) Don't end it so abruptly - some of us don't listen to this on a loop and would like a more detailed ending.

2.) It was awefuly slow and normally thats fine if the beat is there but to me this was an over-done hiphop knock off with heavy drops added. If you want to make a good dub step make it flow like a river so to speak. A better analogy would be to possibly make the music itself almost tell a story.

3.) Don't have it repeat the same stuff over and over - as I said earlier make it like a short story. "Beginning - Middle - Climax - Slowing Down - End"; take your time and maybe you'll get the hang of it =D!

Anyway, I don't mean to sound cocky or rude, I just enjoy listening to music / watching videos / reading stories and giving my two cents about the thing I am taking my time to review.

Sorry if you disagree or think I'm just a jerk-ass.

Thanks for that review, man. I really appreciate it when someone puts a lot of effort into one of these things. Haha And If what you said is what you really think then that's fine, man. Don't worry about getting flamed or whatever, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

1.) I can agree with you 100% that the ending is pretty abrupt, and I definitely could've worked on it. But I didn't have it end the way it did for looping purposes, I just thought it could work as a quick ending xD

2.) Honestly, there's not much about this song that has hiphop elements in it other than the drum pattern. This song also has a 150bpm tempo, which is actually faster than most dubstep songs. (140bpm) And by telling me "how to make good dubstep" it feels like you're implying that I'm new to the genre and making it sound like your impression of "good dubstep" is how all dubstep songs should sound. I've been listening to dubstep for about 7 years now, man, I do know a bit more than I think you're aware of.

3.) I'll agree with you again that the song is repetitive, that really is one of my weak points. But not every song has to follow one specific pattern. There are plenty of artists that break away from the traditional "Beginning - Middle - Climax - Slowing Down - End" theme. In fact, I think songs that can pull that off successfully are pretty unique.

Like I said, thanks for your review, I genuinely do appreciate it :D
That being said, my main problem with your review is that you make your suggestions sound like they're the only way to go; you don't give multiple options. And while you did say that this song isn't bad to you, you didn't say one thing about it that you liked. That's probably one of the reasons why you'd come off as cocky or rude. I understand where you're coming from, man, and if you don't like certain elements from the song then that's fine. Just work on your criticism to make it seem a little less biased.

Nice one!

Definitely one of the best tracks I've heard on here, I'm going to hazard a guess here, you're using NI Massive, right? If so, I commend you on your use of it, brilliant structure, awesome melodies and some nice drum patterns.

TheBiocide responds:

Yup, you got it, man :) A majority of the sounds you hear after the drop are from Massive.
Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate that!

pretty damn good

The bassline itself is reminding me of Set Me On Fire by Pendulum. Pretty good stuff here. The bass drop is pretty sweet, and its pretty hard to find epic bass drops nowadays. Speaking of which, do you think you could give some input on my track, Suppression of Mind (sorry if its commercializing)? Im still fairly new to making dubstep... but I at least know this is some good shit.

TheBiocide responds:

It's all good man, I'll check out your song :) And thanks for your review I appreciate that :)
