This is my first techno song. I spent a good couple of hours on it. It's not the best, but I thought that it was a decent first song. Fill free to comment and rate. I'd like to hear what you guys think about it.

I like to say this: "A first song is like a first car. It's nothing special, but at least it's something."

Anyway, enjoy! ^_^

Heavy panning abuse?

Why is the intro panned so hard to one side? Panning that extremely with an exposed texture makes everything feel a bit lopsided.
Drums don't line up with you melody terribly well. All around it sounds very sparse in every sense of the word.
Try expanding you melody to more than 1 or 2 looping measures, it will help keep things a little more interesting and exciting for your listener.

yoddle.

Maw, great track. I love hat you have here but mind if I make a few suggestions?

There's a little too much panning at the beginning for me. That synth sounds really awkward all the way over there. Play with some background intangibles. Those are just background noises that don't really contribute to the main melody or rhythm. They just float around and create atmosphere... kind of like a pad but a pad is usually more melodic... that doesn't mean it has to be though.

Try EQing and compressing that drum kick to bring forward some more bass and color. Add a hi hat rhythm to phatten up those drums a little. A shaker can even accompany the hi hats. Play wit it.

That's all I'll leave you with. Again, great track sir. Keep on keeping on.

You've got some potential

Look into different sounds and the effects on FL studio. Once you master the effects and automations you will soar man.

Also get some sound packs for drums so your not using the standard kits.

Giantsgiants responds:

I made this on FL Studio 9 Demo. Don't know if it's possible, but I can try.
