Oh Ted... Will you ever learn?

This is an entry I made for the Audio forum's Voice Acting contest! I hope you (and the judges) like it! The theme was winter, so I based this story around Christmas!

rambling review

This is an entertaining piece of voice acting here. When I first heard it I drew some characters that I felt matched the voices. The voices you used have a lot of character. Although there is a lot of similarity between Rodney and Jeremy they even looked similar at first when I started to sketched them. Also the characters in the clip are almost screemy enough to do an invader zim style so I donno anything about voice acting but being a little more screemy might make it more something. Also ted sounds like ed from ed edd and eddy. Would you mind if I made a flash out of this? I can't promise that I will actually get around to starting it at all or that I will finish it. But if I get snowed in sometime I might feel like making a flash out of this and being snowed in would give me the time. No promises.

Anyway good job I like it.

Suezo's Easter Judging (V.A.C 6)

What up Bryson!

It's Easter and I thought I would give you a peer review in the spirit of good will.

Acting: 32/35
Continuity: 20/25
Originality: 10/15
Range: 12/15
Mixing: 9/10
Final: 83

We all know someone a little like Ted right? I know I do.

Acting: goodness. I think what love the most about this skit is the fantastic diction and clarity of your characters voices. The main character was crisp and literate, and completely contrasting that is Ted, a slow talking (and thinking) dumb person. The interaction was great between characters another good thing about your skit.

Continuity: I felt oddly disconnect with your plot. Ted is being scolded for his action and plays dumb and immediately leaves the scene with no closure (I feel like there should have been a more conclusive ending between the main character and Ted) The arrival of Jeremy added some variety but it was too short lived, I believe, to be enjoyable.

Originality: even though I think the "Uncharacteristic chaos during universally peaceful christmas time" idea is a bit over played in this contest, I still consider 2 things:
1. It's not who does it first, its who does it best
2. If it isn't broke don't fix it.
While the premiseis good (the aftermath of the chaos) I think in retrospect there should have been more emphasis on the severity of the situation. Jeremy didn't seem as upset as the main character but he didn't seem to really add any originality to your story aside from good character interaction.

Range: Definately some good range in this skit. My only beef is that Jeremy sounds extremly similar to the main character but with a tad less edginess in his voice. other than that it was great.

Mixing: What can I say about mixing? the timing was great. I just think the could have been better volume balance between Ted and in the main character in their last back and forth, but thats just me.

Fantastic Job.

thanks for taking the time to review! the reason I had ted much lower at the end than jeremy is because i wanted him to seem far-off and in another room. But I guess that did translate too well :/ anyway, thanks again for reviewing!

6th Voice Acting Contest Results

Ted's Christmas Final Score: 87

FatKidWitAJetPak's Judgment:

Acting: 28/35
Fit: 19/25
Originality: 7/15
Range: 14/15
Mixing: 8/10
Final: 76/100

You get big points on your range! Each character had a very distinct voice, although you can improve on your acting. The main throw offs in your acting are your sighs and laughs. They sound very fake and distract me from the flow of the skit. Also, the skit itself isn't really all that good. It is almost as if it is a random deleted scene from some movie, with no real beginning and no real ending. The whole winter theme wasn't wintery either, you could have expanded on the whole "retorted toqitoe guy" and made him work with elfs, possibly stuffing the toys with toqitoes and causing other "retarded toqitoe guy" havoc and chaos. Right now, it's just an easy script that anyone could have thought up in 5 minutes.

Anyway, when it comes to acting, strongly keep in mind the TONE of the character. The main character, for example, should be REALLY pissed off at the other guy. You make him sound very casual, however, almost as if he was simply talking without much enthusiasm. Don't get me wrong, you had good enthusiasm, but you could have made it a lot more enthusiastic. Act like you care, because your acting like the character, so you should try your best to think what the character thinks. This makes those sighs, tones, and other gestures a lot easier to carry out. Getting into character is really important, and you show signs of a good voice actor! Improvements, improvements, improvements.

Keep it up and soon I would hire you for my animation if I was some fancy animator, although it seems many enjoy your simple style of voice delivery, so your already on a great start.

JanShinYa's Judgment:

Acting: 34/35
Fit: 24/25
Originality: 14/15
Range: 14/15
Mixing: 9/10
Final: 95/100

Mostly nitpicking here. Every once in a while Ted's voice slipped into your normal voice (It was very noticeable). Jeremy's voice sounded a bit similar to Ted's Friend's(?) voice. My biggest complaint is for the mixing. there some pops that made their way into the recording and the reverb used toward the end on Ted sounded a bit robotic. Overall, I really enjoyed this. If I ever find an animator for my series, I would definitely scout you.

SimCorders Judgment:

Acting - 33/35
Fit - 25/25
Originality- 12/15
Range - 11/15
Mixing - 09/10
Final: 90/100

THIS IS BRILLIANT! Almost all the voices are unique and very well acted, loved the echoes.
