Not bad
Well I think it's great that you wrote this song for your grandmother who passed away, that was very kind of you. I can tell just by the length that you put a good amount of effort into this.
The melodies weren't to my liking too much, they weren't musically incorrect - they just didn't strike me as anything really original or moving. The background pads were a nice touch, but it just didn't really sound like all the instruments blended near as well as I would have liked them to. 4:45 to the end, however, blended perfectly, and was probably my favorite part of the song. The ending was very well done, as well as the intro. Both parts were strong points to me, but I'm not real sure when the main guitar first comes in fit well...maybe a gradual fade in?
The piano, guitar, and pads all seem to be kinda out there doing their own thing and not really blending into a single coherent melody to me. The background melody on the guitar seems a bit low quality, granted it's distorted, I think it could have been recorded better.
The percussion stood out to me most. I liked the bass kicks and double kicks a lot actually. I don't think anything needs to be changed there it sounds great.
The solo guitar was a nice touch, although I don't really think the long blaring notes were all that pleasant to listen to.
Overall it's a decent track. I don't think it's perfect by any means, but it gets the job done. I think it could use a touch up here and there to really complete it.
