The Silent Rapture - "The Age of Balarama"

Definitely made this for someone to use, so please do.
I can picture like the desert or some ethnic marketplace.

I think I captured the vibe I wanted well here.
As always, votes and reviews appreciated and returned.

Not bad

Well the strings from 30-35 sound totally off beat to me, but other than that it sounds pretty solid. The percussion ticks are interesting and seem to suit the track decently, but I think you could have done more than this.

It's a decent small strings song but it doesn't really go anywhere and doesn't strike me as all that moving. Would work well for an ethnic marketplace like you said though.

Sounds like a decent amount of effort was put into it, but the overall song itself doesn't really do much for me. I think you could have extended this and continued the progression to something more epic. As it stands it's just not that interesting to play by itself to me. It ends to quickly and seems without a climax or any real change of mood or melody. Hate to rain on the parade here but that's just my opinion.

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

I agree that the mood doesn't really change, and capturing a single mood is what I was going for, so in that sense, I'm glad. As for it ending to quickly, I knew by the end of it that this was going to stay simple and probably be an intro-type of song, so I think it changes enough in the time it's given. And as this was more of a purpose piece than something created for its own existence, not having a climax makes it a bit more useful.
Thank you for your review and opinion!
Don't ever be afraid to "rain on the parade." That's what an opinion is for. ^__^

wow

String rhythm is off from 0:30-0:34. I didn't like the rushed notes on the upbeat in that measure.

I like the melody played from 0:35-1:00. This is sort of the climax of the song. Although, I think this song is about never having a climax and is supposed to create a feeling of constantly drifting with slight ups and downs.

I liked the low, resonating string that played through the song. It's sort of laughing in your face. Like a big monster monitoring everything around. A giant, burrowing sandsnake (not onix). The sand snake is pretty cliche, though.

It sounds like someone is suffering from dehydration and is hallucinating. A battle with one's own mind. To resist your worst enemy, yourself.

The echoing percussion was a nice touch. Rhythm was off at 0:27 btw.

I know I mentioned the rhythm being off a couple times, but maybe it helps to simulate a staggering walk? I didn't subtract any for the rhythm.

Your song here is inspiring me to make something similar.

From 10, I subtracted 0.

P.S. If there were any improvements to be made, it'd be to turn down the volume of the guitar. It's just a bit overpowering.

lmao "not onix"! love it.

I think I like that the rhythm is off a few times. It kinda gives off impression that nature is constantly moving at its own pace, so the person has to adapt to that and try to keep up or slow down in accordance. And to be honest, dehydration/hallucination was actually an idea had in my head while making this, so kudos to you my friend.

Thank you so much for the score and review.

Well...

Im loving the decay... as well as the strumed percussion of it. I also like the somewhat silent strings in the background of the song, hardly noticable, but without it the feel wouldn't be right. You really give a good feeling to this... Definately the vibe you were trying to make. 10/10

What an awesome review!
Feels good to know all the subtle effects worked. Thank you!

game music, most ingdefinitely

simply put. sounds like something you would hear in some rpg based game or like the other reviewer said, some dialbo based game... If you want some horns to go with it, hit me up. be glad to help..

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

Thanks for the score and review. ^__^
After making this track, I immediately got the feeling this would be a cool intro to a larger scale piece. If I intend to throw some horns in it, I'll let you know. I'm not sure what direction it's going in just yet.

Diablo 2

That's what this reminds me of a lot, i have to agree this would do really well
in a production, probably a game imo.

Tricky doing powerfull ambient with so little, kudos to you for getting this so
right, i love it :3

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

Thank you so much! I haven't played Diablo 2 in years, I'll have to check out the music now to see what you mean. Maybe it'll be inspirational.
Many thanks friend.
