My 1st Module (FL Studio ver.)

Note: This is a raw, unmastered version of my ever created Fruity Loop.

Seeing that my Parallels demo is about to run out, I thought I'd share this FL Studio [demo] depiction of the "My 1st Module" song that first time tracker users learn in a tutorial by the makers of MPT/OpenMPT, which u can get your own copy of here: http://openmpt.org/

What amazes me, is that compared to my GarageBand version, this version actually sounds not only closer to the original tracker version, but actually has portamento in it, though not as effective as the module version.

For some reason the "portamento" in FL Studio just "zorches" the last synth note, instead of the descent effect that is produced in OpenMPT/MPT.

Just to let you know, this was also my first time ever working with FL Studio, which was quite different from what I'm used to, considering I'm a GB user at heart. After much trial and error I constructed ALL of the patterns including bass and synth in FL Studio's step editor.

This is merely a "side-by-side" comparison of entry-level work that can be done in either DAW. I couldn't get the hi-hat to play an opened/closed effect as easily as I was able to in GB, so it's really just a low ptch and a high pitch hit being played in the rhythm.

Yes, it sounds like Rose Royce's "Car Wash", but the credit of that idea belongs to the tutorial writer, not me.

Enjoy, and feel free to tell me which one of my versions you think sounds best.

augh! :o

turn down the hihats or turn up the kick :o (think it is the kick)
there are alot of things in this song that are a bit ouch on the ears, but with some work, u can fix that :D

FaeryTaleAdventurer responds:

I'll try that next time. As I said before, this is raw unmastered audio. And judging by the stats, as of this response, the listeners appear to want to download the raw unmastered GB version more than this one.

And due to the really sophisticated look of the mixer, I can't say I'd be able to work it properly; but perhaps in time...

Thanks for reviewing!
