I don't know how to feel about this... I'm having a hard time drawing the connection between your song and the novel. What were you trying to go for exactly? Maybe it's my inexperience with the House genre speaking here (I generally stick with Techno and Trance), but I'm slightly confused. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love 1984, and your song is fantastic inandof itself, but I see no clear link between the two. Maybe it's the "cosmopolitan" feel I get from listening to it? Like I'm driving through a vibrant city at night... Bah, I'm probably looking into this too closely XD. In any case, keep up the great work :). It was nice to hear from you again!

Cheers,
Alex

PrEmoEffect responds:

Ahh, and therein the difficulty lies :). I'm really glad you read the novel, and question the titling of this song. I won't say it completely, but there are a couple of details that I think are relevant: Winston catching a glance with O'Brien, and the two's subsequent exchanges, and the sudden, though, subconsciously expected, betrayal. Much of this has to do with doing things with false hopes (i.e. with wishful thinking), despite already knowing the outcome. And though you may already know it may not work out, the experience is so much better this way (emotionally rich and uplifting). After all, why give up when you can die trying? Anyway, it was really nice to hear from you! Hope everything is going well. :)

Expecting Deadmau5

Good, but I was just expecting a remix of Deadmau5's 1984.
Is that Alana below me? 0_o

PrEmoEffect responds:

Hmm, I've never heard of that song, nor could I find it when I tried. Anyways, thanks for stopping by!

Wow

This music is so wonderfully made. The quality is so professional, must've taken lots of time mastering! You're definitely the best progressive house artist on newgrounds.

PrEmoEffect responds:

Yeah, I spent a ton of time learning how to master. It's pretty difficult to get right. This song still has some issues in the mixing, and I might just edit that and repost since I love this song so much. I actually want to go back to this style in the future because I find that it feels more meaningful to me, and probably to others as well. Thanks for listening. Btw, your icon makes me smile :).

Wonderful Modern Jam

This song is a great example of modern music, giving a splendid beat for the base of this song while giving a sense of moving forward with the melody. This is one of my favorites after hearing it, and it is one of the tracks on my CD that I listen to while traveling as it has the right combination for a travel song or just a Metropolitan traversal.

PrEmoEffect responds:

Haha yeah, I love listening to progressive house when I go to the city. It always makes me feel so lively, like I'm doing something great. I'm glad that you liked it!

Good, but threw me off

I felt the beat of the triplet (but not really a triplet, not sure what else to call it, I suck at music terms) was -&2&-&4&, but it was really 1-2&3-4&, so I was taken off guard at 2:24 when the bass drum came in RIGHT at 1 and screwed up my momentum with the song.

So, I had to recalibrate myself to the beat and then listen to it and it wasn't as enjoyable as it was when I thought it was the former beat.

If the beat was steady and kept with what I had in mind, I would have already favourited, and downloaded and wouldn't have written this review.

PrEmoEffect responds:

I'm still trying to figure out how it sounds off. Oh actually, I can sort of see why that could happen. I tried to emphasize the last note of each beat so that it wouldn't quite sound like that. Anyway, I'm glad you like the rest of the song at least. Thanks for the review.
