The only thing is there wasn't a drone in the background (I know that doesn't make it officially 8-Bit, but...). Yeah, this is LEGITIMATE 8-Bit, critics. :)

Cool!
This is a wonderful tune I myself would enjoy as a pirate! As I listen to your audio, I see that you're getting better and better, and you have much potential. This song makes me (and the pirate on the Atlantic Ocean) smile.
As for recommendations, I would like to hear a small 8-bit beat to it. It will feel to me more filled with music.
