Hey guys, this is for round 2 of the NGADM. This time I'm up against dj-Nate (sadface). Also, thanks alot to ShootingStar who gave me the idea of the epic buildup :).

I didn't spend as much time on this as I would've liked, but I think the result is decent. The transition at 1:24 is my main highlight in this. I just love it :D. Well, wish me luck in the competition.

Very nice indeed.

Without a doubt, this is a well produced song. You've got a great intro, great melodies, great instruments, great everything really. Melodies were always superb, even if they got repetitive for a while in the intro, but you quickly remedied this with a great transition and great secondary melodies. Drum loops had good quality, but again, they got repetitve, although this is to be expected in a house song, as it falls in with most electronic music. The thing i especially liked was how the instruments blended in together, without anyone trying to overpower the other. Outro was great, although a tad abrupt in terms of a fade out. Overall, a decent piece of music, keep it up!

SCORE:
Intro = 2/2
Outro = 1.5/2
Blend = 2/2
Transitions = 2/3
Bass = 1.5/2
Originality = 2/3
Drums = 1/2
Melodies = 4/4

Score = 16/20 = 8/10

Well put together!

Starting with composition: The buildup was great, after reading the commentary I was listening in anticipation for that transition. The buildup kept me hanging in there as any buildup should. The backround percussions during the buildup were greatly effective. Once it got to the transition, I really enjoyed the melodies. The progression was simple, but it worked for the melodies at hand. The part that made me really go "meh" was the percussions. While I was listening I could hear many different drumbeats that could have gone into this and put a great effect on the song. The end of the song was fairly well done, slowly taking parts away to bring it to a nice close, well done!

Instrumentation: The sounds that you used in this went really well into it, especially for the progressions. While the sound used for the melody is good, there may be a better contender for that melody that could have made it better. Other than that, it's good!

Mastering: The only issue I hear in the mastering is the drums. While they're not so underpowered you can't hear them, they just seem a bit quiet for my liking. Perhaps you could bring them out a bit and there you go.

Hope this helps!

DjAbbic responds:

Thanks :). First of, I know percussion work is lacking. Most of my songs lack it, and I've heard many people say so before :P. I read everything else and listened again and I see what you mean by the melody maybe needing a new sound, it IS a bit empty now that I heard it again. Thanks for all the criticism, very appreciated :)

Good!

I like this. Very soothing. I would love to hear some MOAR BASS! Seems a little lacking on the low-end, but the melodies are great and the supersaw/pad filled things in nicely. Also kinda thought the intro/buildup took a little long, but the melody and atmosphere made it almost ambient in a way. Nice job Abbic.

Good luck in the competition sir.

DjAbbic responds:

I *knew* it was lacking in the low end...I was going to make a kind of slidey low sub-bass but I never found out how to do that :( I thought it would've fit pretty well :|. Oh well. Thanks for the review and good luck too :).
