Voice Acting - Voice Demo

Author Comments

This is my attempt at replicating the late Deem Bristow's performance of Dr. Eggman/Robotnik from the video games Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes.

Dr. Eggman (Who seems to prefer being called "Robotnik") is gloating about his latest plan to take over the world when, who else, Sonic breaks into his hidden base. Soon, all hell breaks loose.

I attempted at using various tones and emotions while this small "Story" of sorts plays through.

I thought about throwing in sound effects here and there, but trying to find the right royalty-free SFX is quite difficult, let alone trying to record your own SFX can be very time-consuming and challenging as well.

I greatly appreciate your opinion on this voice demo, just please don't say this voice acting clip stinks and not explain why, okay?

I reply to all reviews so feel free to leave one. :)

Working with Rogerregorroger was kind of a dream come true. :) I'd been keeping tabs on him for quite some time on Newgrounds, mostly for his "Sonic Game in X Minutes" series of animations. I was glad to be a part of two of his recent Sonic game animation collabs. ^_^

I need to get an updated voice demo up here soon. Glad you enjoyed this recording and thanks a lot for leaving another great review!

Thank you very much! ^_^ I'm going to have to post a better demo sooner or later as my impression of Deem Bristow's Dr. Eggman voice has improved considerably since I made this recording. Check out Seaside Denied or Metropolis Mayhem for a better demonstration. :)

i could see it as being robotnik but now it needs works try as hard as you can to get a more gravel tone something rougher and harsher ive done the voice before and i like using dean bristows voice cause in my opinion it was excelent mike has done okey but it was never the same. But keep working at it your getting there.

DrMackFoxx responds:

I wholeheartedly agree that my impression needs a fair amount of refinement. Granted, I've come to like Mike Pollock's voicing of Dr. Eggman, although Deem Bristow is, by far, my favorite voice actor of the two. Thank you very much for the critique and for checking out this demo. I really appreciate it! :)

Not bad at all

I think the voice needs to be a bit lower, but if you could lower it without losing anything, I'd want to hear your voice in the next Sonic game. Though there were a few times the voice fell through and sounded more like your own voice. Still, an excellent job overall. Deem Bristow would be proud.

DrMackFoxx responds:

Agreed. I do need to work on maintaining a lower pitch as well as keeping my Dr. Eggman impression going more effectively. Glad you liked this little demo and thank you very much for the critique. :) 'Tis greatly appreciated.

As far as the possibility of voicing Dr. Eggman in the next Sonic game, chances are, it will have to be a fan-game. Not that I would mind. :)
