It's a bit long, and lacking without vocals

I know that it's a cover, so before you bite my head off shawn, I know it's a cover :)

Now that that is out of the way, I liked the accuracy with which you nailed the song. All of the notes seem exactly how the original song was. I really have to take points away though for using soundfonts, because they cheesed this up quite a bit, and you could have spent more time varying the EQ soundscape like Jon said(laiderdaiv), it was far too bassy, with no disectable difference between mids and highs, except for the electro hat, which I didn't have that much of a problem with. So that's my biggest qualm, the fact that everything sounds like it's stuck on 1500 hz range.

Other than that, I really liked the strings, but I much prefer to work with sampled instruments rather than soundfonts. I also noticed that you tweaked the stereo soundscape, which is one of your trademarks. That's what I think saves the sound and preserves some kind of seperation.

Anyway, I liked it, but it just sounds too much like it would go on someone's xanga.com page.

oh dear.

Well.. I dont have any sampled instruments - except for the violin and like half the acoustic guitar which I used in Reason in the refills.. Maybe you can help me out with that? Sadly I can't really redo this song as it crashes my computer - so you'll just have to be happy with what you see here! :P

neways thanks for the hackneyed review :P

I wonder if this song tastes good too!

Hi Mrs. Flupert's mom! Is Flupert there? Oh, he is? Oh, right. I forgot he doesn't get back until later. Can you have him call me when he gets home? Alright. Thanks... bye.

If you could eat music, I'd eat this song up like it were a big chunk of flan! I like flan! Do you like flan? I like it with strawberries and cinnamon! Enough about the mountain lion!

I've never heard the original song, but I'm sure this is a very good remake. I really liked the sounds you made. I thought they sounded very good, even the acoustic guitar that you mentioned having trouble with. Here's a mathematical equation I came up with about you!

3(6x+5w)-4 7(x-5w)+(6x-w)
---------- = --------------
5 4

I hope that will look right since the review kind of gets distorted from what it looks like while you write it. SKIP A FEW LINES!!!

The answer is SHAWN!! Go ahead and solve it on paper if you don't believe me!

Strike three! I'm out!

Originality - scored a 5.

Diversity - scored an 8.

Clarity - scored a 10.

Effort - scored a 10.

That's right. There are no explanations.

Overall you scored a 10! Way to go! You're a moose!

In Other News: I told Flupert that you said hi yesterday and he says WELL HELLO THERE!!!, back.

Chronamut responds:

flupert has to be like the coolest name ever - I mean, the name Rupert is pretty cool - but FLUpert? Man thats just amazing...

as for the status of flan - I dont think Ive ever had the chance to try one - trifle beats anything tho...

the mountain lion is staring at me...

Go download the song illegally off so me sort of chare ware device - its "wonder wall" by Oasis - mine sounds more intense tho - altho his guitar sounds MUCH better - and it has vocals - the song really relies a lot on the vocals - which I could not add in - but if you find an acapella of the song do please let me know!

I hate algebra... so I'll just take your word for it..

and yes it looks fine :P

and I didnt even throw the ball yet... silly boy..

originality i can see - diversity - COME ON ITS ORCHESTRAL IN INDIE!! the rest is fine and overall I SUPPOSE that score is adequate :P

And of course I'm a mosse - I'm canadian after all..

aww tell him he can have my babies <3<3<3

in other news thanks for the review! And what do walruses use to brush their tusks..?

Turn the bass down? Turn the mid up!

Has an emotional vibe to it that I really enjoy. But it was too MIDI for my taste; everything was too fake sounding and it lacked anything really different throughout the song. It keeps to itself...and kind of, it doesn't spiral me around in any new scheme. Nothing new really happens.

You know when you listen to symphonic music you hear those high pitched violin notes to make everything more dramatic? YEAH!! There's no real dynamic range; It's all very dull. The bass was very great, but is over crowded with all of the other instruments taking up the same frequencies. The only high end isntrument was that high hat...and it has a very intrusive way on the mix because there are no instruments to compliment it...I mean, it goes nice with the bass, but there is still a contributed effort from everything that ads to the droning through the whole song. When you stopped all the instruments, I thought the song was over, but it wasn't. No, just another minute and a half of the same thing I just heard. Nothing really new introduced, or to grab my attention, or to give me a reason to be excited about it. Tkae this as constructive as you can.

Hehe, I had a solo going on in my head and I thought I'd just mash in onto MIDI. I'll send it your way...Just cause I've never done it before. =)

Later, Laider.

*sigh*

It's a cover - if you wanna hear the real version d/l "wonder wall" from oasis - I didnt really change much because I like the original song - as for soundign too midi-ish - well you try makign soundfonts sound real - and yes I realize I made the bass too overpowering.

I dont really have anything else to say

this is def oasis

and it is one of their greatest-only songs, except for champagne supernova, that one was ok too. Whatever happened to them anyways... The song is very nice. the acoustic guitar lacked in real soundingness, and the vocal part was somewhat not present. I know you dont have the lyrics, but you cant take out the melody. The drums were nice...perfect, yeah they were perfect. the bass was too punchy for my liking, and the strings were AMAZING

Chronamut responds:

nop matter HOW hard I trie i could NOT for the life of me make that acoustic sound real - i went thru TONS of samples - poor me... and ya with my speakers I realized after that the bass was too.. bassish.. the strings turned out perfect the drums were ok and the violin was excellent in my opinion and I even added a bit of exctra piano for subtlety :P

I'm glad you took the time to dissect my song! And I 'm glad its not perfect because god who wants to be perfect..?

as for the lyrics - I might sometime track down the vocals and put them in - I didnt wanna cheese it up by putting like a flute or somethnig with the melody and I knew that the song is very lacking without the vocals so I apologize..

thanks for the review ryeguyhead!
