Thank you...

...for writing/recording this! You have pointed out many things I've discussed with my friends many times, especially about zombies and vampires. I personally blame Ann Rice for the whole deal in morphing vampires into some sort of goth-sex symbol. Anything you should know about vampires is in 'Dracula' by Bram Stoker. Period. However, I would like to salute Sam Raimi for his brave attempt at trying to bring them back into the monster genre ('40 Days of Night', watch it if you haven't already).
I thought deeply about zombies and what they symbolize to those of us who can't get enough of them, and I've concluded that the zombie survival story is a giant metaphor about anarchy, individuality, and fighting for your personal freedom. Consider every time someone sitting in a crappy job looks up and realizes that they've somehow become part of America's corporate machine, or 'monster' as some label it. Just another one of the faceless streaming masses, always trying to get their piece of the pie (or brains). It's always a tale of the resistance against the horde, doing everything you can to stop at becoming one of them, and the never-ending inevitability which slowly approaches and forces you down...
Thanks again! Well written/spoken!

And thank YOU for writing a great review! You brought up some good names that I didn't involve in the article. Anne Rice is definitely the mother of vampire romance and seduction. There could be a whole article dedicated to her. And I did see 40 Days of Night. It was a better movie than most people give it credit and it did bring back the monstrous side of the vampire.
I'm also glad to hear from a fellow zombie appreciator. Zombies are metaphors for so many of humanity's short-comings AND good side.

Thanks for listening!
