All I Want - High

This is just me messing around with a Zoom Handy Recorder.
I was watching "Woodstock - 3 days of peace and music" when i just got this melody stuck in my head, i seriously could not get it out my head, so I just had to get it out somehow, and this is what came out of it, it was ALOT of fun to record, so naturally it would be fun to hear what you people think of it.

All i used here was my guitar, my voice and my hands to clap, no effects in this one, so it's not really an ambient piece, don't really know what genre to put it in, but i put it in blues just cause that was the vibe i had while recording...ish.
And i know it drags on a bit, but i was just having so much fun recording it that i didn't want to stop hehe.
Also, about the title, it's not about drugs, it's just a cheezy "high on life" refference, cause that's really all i want.

(Also also, the clapping is slightly un-even in some parts due to the program i'm using to record, wich is Audacity, don't really understand why, but i'm 100% that i was in tempo when recording, used a click track and everything, i'm looking into some new program, possibly CoolEdit.)

Very interesting

I gotta say, this is a very interesting track, but it really does drag on. A lot.

Did you use overdubbing? If so, you did it really good, as it sounded like a group of people singing. Really like your voice as well. The a capella part of the song, the intro and the way the vocals just carried on really worked out well. The clapping also followed well, and the song could've sound very naked if you'd left it out. Especially when there was no guitar.

The guitar parts were okay, nothing spectacular, but it fit the song and the vocals well.

The only problem I have with this song is that it's about three minutes too long. Seeing as there's so little variation, it gets really boring really fast. There is some variation in the guitar, but that's barely anything. The intro lasts for over a minute, before the guitar joins in, and the outro is also very slow, but at least here there's some variation in the vocals. Also, you've used a fade-out, which I find to be a cheap way of ending songs.

If you could shorten this or add more variation, it could've gotten a better score. You should at least work on something similar to this, because I find it pretty interesting and would love to hear more in the same style.

Drug songs rock

0:25-you finally start adding the guitar and clapping, which it sounded awesome.I started clapping by myself in my room alone. It was kinda sad.It got repetitive
2:05-It starts to finally slow down which made me wander whats next
3:05-guitar stops and I just hear clapping which it kinda reminded me of a church choir.
3:30-The clapping and voices get quieter
3:55-more quieter
4:05-Some guy talking
4:06-crazy noises start happening
4:20-they start to get louder
4:35-Quiet again
5:10-just clapping
5:17-End of song

-Song-
It was very repetitive.Like VERY.This song could of been 2 and a half minutes or at least 3 but nearly 5 and a half is way to long. When you took out the guitar I started to lose interest.

Thanks for review.

I do agree it gets repetitive, and will make it shorter, maybe like 2 minutes or something, just enough to get the point across, or maybe add more parts, not sure yet.

Thanks again :)

Funny but weird

nice beat although it does sound weird and the beats way too repetitive. The beat does slightly change over time however which is good and it is a relaxing tune so i'll give you a 7 and a 4 in the ratings! Good luck!

Monkeydelic responds:

Thanks :)

I know it's very repetitive, but it's weird, as i was recording it i entered a weird trance by repeating the phrase over and over again, so a piece that was originally ment to be about 2 minutes long suddenly became 5 minutes, maybe i'll try to come up with more variation in terms of different parts, and more elements, i was thinking about maybe adding some bass, more vocals and more guitar to make it build up more so it feels like it's actually going somewhere.

Thanks for review and rating, i'll check your stuff out :)
