Easy Listening - Classical

Author Comments

This is the second movement of a three movement piece titled "Yume" which means Dreams in Japanese. This movement utilizes many minimalist techniques such as pitch isolation and rhythmic complexity. For example, the repeating F in the right hand is played slightly off tempo, taking away any sense of metric foundation which creates a sense of weightlessness. The fast part is the actual flight part of this experience. Again, the listener's perception of meter is thrown off by the irregular and offset rhythms. The ending symbolizes my realization that I can not fly forever, I have to come back to reality.....
