Hello, everyone!

Inspired by music such as of the Enigma project, I decided I wanted to try my hand on electronic/ambient music. You guys might know me as lover of heavy metal, but I do enjoy a nice, soothing tracks like the one I'm trying to make.

This is a snippet I just finished in about 1h 30m and it's a first for me in many fields, most importantly audio manipulation. The song is called "Why?" and I'd like to hear suggestions from you guys, since I know Newgrounds is more or less an electro-based site when it comes to music.

Please keep your suggestions and comments constructive, none of that "Why indeed would you make something so utterly horrendous", I really want to improve :).

Thank you in advance!

Very soothing

0:10 Pretty nice so far
0:28 the gat is mean.
0:42 this extra melody enacts goodness
0:58 The melody is quite soothing.

The song does seem to pose the question why, with its melodies somehow. I found that was pretty relevant. The melody is quite soothing, the guitar is a good variation. I like how you're trying new stuff apart from heavy metal, because I don't really enjoy much heavy metal and it's important to be flexible. Overall, very good and soothing, poses a question, very nice. 8 out of 10. Thanks for letting me listen.

ShiverMeSideways responds:

No, thank YOU for such a quick and uplifting comment :). I'm glad that I managed to convey the sentiment I was going for with the instrumentation!

About the guitar, I'm glad that it proved to be a good variation. I am a guitarist and this instrument brought me into music and I thought that it would be very interesting for me to try and incorporate it into this type of music. I'm trying to play with effects and see just what I can make a guitar part sound like, and where I can apply it. For now, I just started with processing a few simple natural harmonics; nothing too hefty, but there's a world of possibilities waiting for me! :D

Also, soothing is very good. I want the song to start out soothing and mellow, and gradually grow with more and more textures, and then go into a faster-paced part. Kind of like how a quest for answers would go in my mind.

I hope you'll stick around and check out the final version as well, your kind words and support have helped in convincing me that this project is a good idea, so I thank you again.
