This is a mixture of several loops featured in the flash game "Larry and the Gnomes" by JAZZA! Originally we had planned on uploading a few of the loops separately, but at ~0:30 each, we think it makes more sense to upload one longer track with several loops. If you haven't played the game yet, this will give you an idea of the sounds you'll hear!

All of these loops will be extended greatly in the upcoming soundtrack, slated for an early July release. You can preorder the soundtrack and save a few bucks (plus get some exclusive extras)! I'll be making news posts with some demos as the release date approaches.

As always, I greatly appreciate comments, and read every single one. I'll do my best to reply as time allows!

Great!

Was great! I am really pleased with this games soundtrack.

However, i felt the soundtrack for Larry and the Gnomes should have received a more bombastic and fun approach. Your scores matched well with all the parts of the game, but i still wanted to feel more bouncy, since the game seemed to play more of your epic music constantly through the game. It needed to hear much more of 0:00 and 0:53.

So i really suggest keeping it fun, bouncy, epic, and bombastic all at the same time, and you will sustain a really great soundtrack for this game! :D

Btw 1:23 is your most original and creative score so far. Make it great on the CD!

Hey Jamal, great to see a review from you :). For the most part, I agree with what you've said. I think Larry and the Gnomes could have been bouncier in places and worked very well, but I'm happy with these results. I tried to create a sense of progression through the levels from light + fluffy to hard-hitting and bombastic. The game's difficulty increases each stage, as do the aggression of the gnomes and the ferocity of their weapons. I feel like the turning point in the game is at the start of the second boss, and I tried to communicate that through the soundtrack. Up until that point the gnomes don't present much of a challenge, but it becomes clear they shouldn't be messed with once you enter the forest!

So far the music on the CD has turned out really well. I've still got a lot to do, but I've done a lot of mastering to the tracks to give them a more polished sound compared to what's heard here.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and for your support!

amazing, breathtaking, but fatiguing!

The songs all evoke strong emotional responses.

My only complaint is the mixing and mastering. I find the low mids to be a bit muddy, and the tracks as a whole slightly, ever so slightly over compressed and fatiguing. also, the amount of artificial reveerb is slightly to much, this drowns out the individual elements, for the slight benefit of a more airy feel.

At least put a hipass on the reverb element to chop out those low reveerb elements that are clearly muddying up the mix here

as an engineer I would have opted to lower the amounts of compression on the track, instead brightening up the softer elements in the track in the high end, so the individual parts of the track are each more audible, and the track as a whole is less overbearing and fatiguing

9/10

Hi Bjra, thanks for stopping by! It's nice to have another ear (A good ear, might I add!) to listen for mix imbalances. Unfortunately, I didn't get much time to test the music on different speakers so the muddy low-mids are probably a result of me compensating for a weak low-end in my monitors. Right now I'm working without a woofer (I have a pair of Yamaha HS50M but not the woofer to go with them). I'll keep all of those ideas in mind as I go back and revise and expand the music!

What is this?!

I have to give you props for one of the craziest songs I have ever heard! It was not really so insane because of the notes but because of how it moved around. This had like three periods of simply blank space where it then changed into something completely different! It seems like you were trying to submit different things but decided to do it all as one. If so, I am glad because a lot of people are just submitting small loop after small loop. You definitley showed adventure, cuteness, and other things in the same submission.

It's interesting.

I thought it was going to be 'meh' when I first saw it, but it was actually very nice. There are tons of subtle pitch changes that I really loved, and although the transitioning could've been better, I understand this is more of an OST than anything.

Overall, very well done. I was going to rate it a 9/10, but bumped it up to 10/10 because of how unexpectedly epic it became. Great work!
