"let go of the tonic"
date: November 10, 2005
the tonic note hit in repetition, and in that intensity destroys the clarity of the note, and ultimately the listening experience.
what made this one was everything else. when you let it go, and then when you return to hitting the tonic for maybe a measure or two when I can see something interesting happening, it fits in fine.
maybe you were trying to keep a sustenance, but i think if its going to be that, you can just hit that note the first three times like you have it now, and then maybe just sustain it -- in some measures at least, i understand it might not work with how you have composed it.
niceeeeeeee though. you're an inspiration.
Author's Response:
Moopie, THanks for the solid crit. After hearing it again, I do hear a loudness that probably should be toned down. I'm in the process of redoing and mastering out these tracks so I'll definitely use your input to improve it. thanks again! /justin
