I am using this song as my entry for the Drum and Piano competition. When I listen to this song there seems to be some sort of high pitched ringing going on, this is not present in the original song. For some reason when I uploaded this to Newgrounds it became present. It almost sounds like a bit crush effect was added or something of a similar nature. I mainly only hear it in the beginning and the end when the piano is soloed, but I wanted to address that issue because it is not present in the original mp3. Thus there isn't anything I can do about it. I'll be posting this to another site as well allowing you to download a better quality version if you wish. A link will be posted in this area for that as soon as possible.

As for the song itself, the competition was quite straightforward. One needs to use both percussion and a piano in the song in some form, and the idea is for them to be the primary focus. Oddly enough the idea of "piano" extends to synths when listening to some of the examples to give contestants some ideas. So there is some wiggle room, but I decided to go with the more literal rout using a real piano and simple Cuban percs in one of my new sample packs.

All in all I really like this. I wanted to keep it simple and realistic, as well as melodic and pleasing on the ears. Instead of heavy chords I rolled them and created a melody over top of those rolled chords which gave the piano a very fluid feel.

I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed composing it.

Nice work

I likes it. Ah likes it a lot.

It's a real pretty tune. You did exactly as intended when trying to give it a simple, realistic feel.

Incredible Piano Playing!

If you just did a piano solo in this song I'd still give you a 10. If only I was able to play this good my freshmen year of high school for my music class during the classical section. But I like it alot. This would be good background music or OST for an intense scene for a movie or video game or something worthy of this music. I personally think your strings could of been a little bit louder but than again the song so far to me seems too good for re-editing, remaking or remixing. Amazing job. Keep it up!

Thank you very much. I agree that this could fit into a sort of movie for sure, or even a cut scene for a video game maybe. It might even make good background music for an in town setting during a game. I think it has potential for sure for that sort of thing like you mentioned.

I'm glad you enjoyed the piece. It's something I really enjoyed creating, and I'm a bit proud of it to say the least. As for your comment about the strings being low in the mix, that was intentional. I did not want to take the focus away from the piano, and if I raised the strings in the mix any the piano became a bit muddled in the mix. Therefore I chose to lower the strings a bit to make them more of a support ensemble to the piano.

Thanks for the review.
