Strangled - to be the sea

'Act and the city would come later...it can wait.

Softly you felt it now, through all the confusion clearer, it revealed.
Set no step, moved no inch.. calm.
The rain had never ended and here supposed to be the sea.
And then below the beech tree carefully opening your eyes, the fear of pain you had attended running without a moment free was gone and you stand.
Enough nuts lying around, you could build a house right here so was this all a dream? You thought and started walking..
Were you truly gone or was this where youve gone, be truly lost from the land or back where you belong..
The rain had never ended and here supposed to be the sea, the rain had never ended and here supposed to be the sea. '

Strange little thing

Actually feels like I'm playing Zelda and I just reentered some town that had a creepy feel to it, nice job.

Synth: Nice work of sounds used.

Rain: Sounds nice.

Xylophone: Sounds really nice here, nice work.

Drums: Simple beat, nice work.

Overall: Very wonderful piece, congrats on this great piece of work.

Calamaistr responds:

Personally i really like the background bass guitar and plucks. :)

Thanks for the review.

Too much hiss

I can hear a hiss that Dolby would disapprove of and remove using their latest technology. Please do something about this >:(

The piece itself sounds very strange and almost tuneless, as the sound effects that are used just seem a little disjointed and with the fact that the melody doesn't really have much of a tune, it is kind of creepy, as if it is somewhere within a run down old house that has strange things inside. The best part of this tune was the organ in the background, but it needs to be more prominent, in order to take control of what is a piece that requires a lot of work overall.

Calamaistr responds:

Strange... there is no hiss in this track, maybe you misinterpeted the rain?
I also dont see why you mention it to be 'tuneless' when i made clear this whole album is atmospheric, like a music score.

The tune is in the detail.

Nevertheless, thanks for your review.

A disjointed melody...

Hello,

I certainly felt some aspects of the aquatic, however it felt a little too disjointed to carry the feeling throughout the piece.

The story you included does help add some context to the submission,
that said if the plot wasn't explained, I feel most people wouldn't be as sympathetic to the way the music unfolds.

I suppose it's not bad, but it could be better.
Thanks,
- Celx

Calamaistr responds:

Well its quite logical that the story is an important facet, afterall the music was made as a atmospheric theme on the story, comparable to a moviescore if it were one.

thanks for the review.

Bazarlike

I don't know why, but I had the image of a large Bazar in mind while listening to this. Maybe because on the last track I felt as I was standing in a big city, now I reached the Bazar of said city, heh.

Anyway, once again the melodies in this track blend in very well with the background effects and the drums.
Maybe the rain could even be a bit louder.

Calamaistr responds:

Its always nice to see what other people hear in it. I guess it could fit fine on a bazaar scene.

Anyway the track was meant as the protagonists (literal) awakening, like a double realisation both in the dreamworld and the realworld, wich is why it starts so hopeful and drags into a kind of 'i need to do something' feeling, slightly reflecting the themes (melody) of the dream.

All in all where in the dream the rain had been seen as a threat, it actually saved him and never ended untill he woke up rejuvinated, the rain is as much the oxygen as it is that wich strangled him, in some way it both stands for the mass of all that is (concerning us) and the show how harmless it is, if you are concious about it.

Pretty cool stuff

It's my personal opinion that the rain needed to be a bit more varied, but as it stands, I thought this was a pretty smart and well-made song.
Like the sound of the instruments; the glockenspiel/bells sound pretty authentic, as does the organ.

I as well how the sounds meld together.

All in all, this is quite good.

Calamaistr responds:

Thanks, prepare for the great cometogether though, there is one last piece to go wich will blend all the melodies as for an ending.

:)

thanks for the review man.
