Well, I've gotta say I've never completed a song from start to completion so quickly. This song just screamed to get out.

You see, my roommate bought a vintage Wurlitzer organ the other week and I'd been jamming out on it. It inspired me to compose a very funky melody. The thing is -awesome-, I'm loving playing the bassline with my foot - such a different experience. :)

Anyhow, I started this track in Reason 4.0 on Friday after work and am putting it up now right as I finish. I've never pumped one out so quick but, like I said, something about this song just drove me to completion.

I honestly hope you all enjoy this. And for those of you who liked Summer Solace, I think this'll tickle your pickle as well. :)

As usual, please rate/review/enjoy! :D

[EDIT] A fellow Newgrounds user, IIPhase, has been kind enough to master the track for me for a higher-quality, less muddied sound. You can download the mastered version here...

You're very good.

But I've noticed that a lot of your songs sound the same. You need to come up with an entirely new beat and rhythm, a new sound. I'm not saying what you're doing is bad by any means, but I'm saying that if an artist can't keep it fresh, then he's gunna get stale. Good work on this though.

durn responds:

Don't you worry, Robin. I'm always trying new things. Just bought Record a few weeks ago and have been familiarizing myself with it so expect something fresh soon. :)

The new song's even in a different key than what I normally use! :O

Thanks for the listen and the honest opinion. :)

OMG!

I just noticed i didnt write a review and i was one of the first to hear this released on newgrounds, my bad, but when I first heard this i coldnt stop listening to it and i kept playing it throughout my house. Well, nice job on this, i've already made u one of my fav artist so i could kepp up with ur music, so.... I'll write a revieew next song I hear from u

durn responds:

thanks a bunch, cooliobeat. :) it's nice to hear you liked it that much, man. :)

Love this song ^^

It's awesome as usual, i can't get the melody out of my head >_<

durn responds:

muahaha, a catchy tune to stick in your brain! :D

hopefully it won't turn to mush. overexposure to durn has been known to cause fits of relaxation and mellow explosions!

*GOBSMACKED* again

This sounds near identical to a daft punk/louis la roche track! Very proffesional, this should be in the charts..

So you didn't use any samples in this - they're all your own melodies? It kinda sounds like a sample - which is a good thing - very good...

Keep up more of the sick house tunes man they're awsome...
BuddhaBoy

durn responds:

Aye dude. :) I create all original melodies for my tunes. I used to be very opposed to using loops of any kind but now I've caved and I use hi-hat/percussion loops since it allows me to focus more on my melodies.

Glad to hear you think they've got a sample-like quality to them, though! :D Thanks for the review, buddha! :)

absulutely amazing

So well made and so perfect, love listening to your music, you need to make a new years entry, can't wait for your next song, i'd like to know what you used to create this song, was it a program? or do you hava equipment? i would love to make my own music

durn responds:

heheh, read the track comments, silly. :D I'll expand a bit, though. :)

All the different melodies originated on my roommate's organ, was able to achieve some really funky harmonies due to using my foot to play the bass.

Anyhow, when recording one of the organ melodies in Reason, I accidentally switched the NN-XT to a muted electric bass patch and had a "Holy Shit!" moment when it just sounded sooooo funky once I layered it with a more solid/repetitive sub bass! :D

The stabby notes are the powerful Thor synthesizer, incorporating the step sequencer along with held chords to make a bouncy roll.

Aaaand, even though I released Freedom on Dec. 28th, it's basically my New Year's track as I'm super busy with work-related loops for the next month or two. May or may not have time to do a side-project to release. :/ Hopefully I do, though! :D
