A piano improvisation I recorded for my friend. This is probably the only song I have put up to date that has respectable sound quality.
Unfortunately, that benefit is offset by my various mistakes and poor dynamic control. But I do have excuses for those, too! Hahahah!
The mistakes: this is an IMPROVISATION. Meaning, I did this with barely any thinking behind it. I just go wherever I can. I pick up the main theme, which I come up with beforehand (usually by mistake or by experimentation), and run with it like a football, as far as I can. Although I will concede that the ending was much sloppier than a pianist of seven or eight years can be forgiven for. You may mark me down for that. Still, I'm not freakin' Beethoven, okay?
The dynamics: I used a Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-505. The name "Grand" is an epic misnomer, as it is nothing like a grand piano. It's a keyboard. Keyboards don't have dummy hammer action like a proper electric piano. This confuses my fingers, and my fingers do stupid things not normally done on the Clavinova I also own. Hence, bad dynamic control. (Although I am notorious among my piano teacher's various students for being the guy who has a healthy obsession with the forte range.)
That said, enjoy.
Or at least try to.
